Tamil Nadu: Modi calls to end scientific corruption and family-centred DMK regime, bring people-centric NDA government

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a massive rally in Trichy on March 11, accused the DMK government of corruption, dynasty politics and failing to deliver on promises to farmers and youth. He asserted that only an NDA government could bring development, ensure safety for women and children, and take Tamil Nadu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asserted and assured that only an NDA government in Tamil Nadu could give change and meet their expectations, besides ensuring the safety of women, children and the public in general from the most corrupt DMK regime.

Addressing a public meeting on March 11, Modi, after laying stones for a slew of projects, launching new and completed projects and green-flagging new train services, tore into the DMK and its misgovernance, which he said was the root cause of the issues faced by the people.

He said the whole of Tamil Nadu has made up its mind to throw out the family-centred regime and install a people-centric NDA government. The change is not only for one family but for the families of the entire state, and the people know that only the NDA could bring that change in TN.

Addressing a massive gathering in Trichy on Wednesday, the PM said, “In 2021 Tamil Nadu voters voted for the DMK alliance to power. Instead of taking up the responsibility, they have betrayed the mandate given to the DMK. Everything starts and ends with only one family. Ministers and MLAs may change but power remains only with one dynastic family. DMK is known for scientific corruption. Today the same model is being used for the benefit of one family.”

In an indirect attack against a DMK minister and Trichy MLA K N Nehru, PM Modi said a minister of this district was involved in a huge cash-for-jobs scam. Like how all rivers go to the sea, all the corrupt money goes to one family. When jobs are sold for money, the dreams of the youth are dashed. The DMK government has also failed to honour its promises of providing modern storage warehouses for farmers and a hike in MSP for paddy.

Coming down heavily on the DMK, the PM alleged that women were feeling unsafe under the Stalin regime as criminals roam free. The NDA will ensure that women of TN live without fear. The choice before TN voters is clear. One path leads to corruption and dynasty politics. The other leads to development, opportunity and honest governance. The people of TN are yearning for a change. In this election, the desire for change is gaining huge momentum.

The whole state has made up its mind to throw out the DMK government. People want a government for every family, not for just one family, and they know only the NDA can bring that change.

Underlining the need for aligning with the rest of the states, PM Modi said, “TN’s progress is very important for the NDA government,” adding that the central funds allocated to TN under the NDA were higher than during the Congress-DMK-led UPA governments at the Centre.

Infrastructure funding to TN has tripled in the past decade. The NDA government has spent nearly Rs. 57,000 crore on highways, which is four times more than what the Congress-DMK government did for TN. Nearly Rs. 8,000 crore has been invested in building rural roads.

He also spoke about the elevation of Madurai airport as an international airport. “By doing so we are bringing the world to the doorstep of Madurai. This will mean there will be direct flights to and from Madurai from many important cities. Thousands of pilgrims, tourists and people will find it easier to travel to Madurai, and traders and farmers will benefit by transporting their goods across the nation and the world. Madurai city is famous for jasmine flowers and fragrance. These flowers, if plucked in the morning, can reach Paris in France the same evening,” he said. Also to New York in the USA and other places.

Farmers of the delta region are the backbone and bloodline of TN’s food security, but the DMK has failed to deliver on its promises, he said.

Modi said, “They (delta farmers) deserve fair prices, good facilities and modern storage infrastructure. The DMK also promised a big push for a rise in MSP for paddy but failed to fulfil these promises. Illegal sand mining is destroying rivers and threatening the environment. Yet those responsible for this continue to enjoy protection of the DMK.”

Touching upon the worsening law and order under DMK rule, especially crimes against women and children, he said the NDA, if voted to power, would ensure that people and women live without fear. Under the DMK government, violent crimes against women have become common.

Citing a recent incident, PM Modi said, “Recently everyone saw the news of how a DMK member did not spare even a little girl. Today criminals roam around harming women. I promise you that the NDA will ensure that women of Tamil Nadu live without fear. It will be criminals who will live in fear and not the people.”

Unveiling what is in store for TN, he said the NDA had big plans for the progress of Tamil Nadu. “We have made the state a part of the rare earth corridor. We have proposed Bengaluru-Chennai and Chennai-Hyderabad bullet train corridors. Such projects can take the state to the next level of growth in terms of connectivity and manufacturing. But these projects need a government that puts people’s interests above politics. Only the NDA can give such a government. I have full faith in the vision of the people of this state. TN wants a change, and the people know that only the NDA can bring about that change.”
