“In view of the current geopolitical disruptions impacting fuel supplies and the constraints in LPG availability, the Ministry has instructed oil refineries to step up LPG production and channel the additional output for domestic LPG use,” the ministry said in an advisory.
The minimum interval for booking a domestic LPG refill has been raised to 25 days from the existing 21 days, a step aimed at curbing hoarding and ensuring fair distribution of cylinders.
“The ministry has prioritised domestic LPG supply for households and introduced a 25-day inter-booking period to prevent hoarding and black marketing. Non-domestic LPG supplies from imports are being prioritised for essential sectors such as hospitals and educational institutions,” it added.
Committee formed to review non-domestic supply requests
Additionally, a committee comprising three Executive Directors from Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) has been constituted to examine requests and representations related to LPG supply. “For LPG supply to other non-domestic sectors, a committee of three EDs from OMCs has been set up to review representations for LPG supply to restaurants, hotels, and other industries,” the ministry said.
