Keralam State Police Director General of Police Ravada Chandrasekhar, has reportedly expressed his protest against, and dissatisfaction with, the atrocities taking place in the state against the police force. He demanded stringent action against the culprits behind the atrocities against the police. He said that the police should go ahead courageously with their duties and responsibilities. This strong statement appears to be a sign of growing political pressure on them and a way to find their path to navigate the trust and reliability crisis of the police force.
Ravada Chandrasekhar stated this in a video shared on the official Facebook page of the Kerala Police on March 5. He stated that it is the duty of every citizen to cooperate with the police, who leave no stone unturned to implement peace and justice in society. Political parties and youth organisations should cooperate with the police.
The State Police Chief’s post should be viewed in the light of the manhandling of a police personnel by DYFI men, blocking a police jeep in Kollam and showering abuses on the Station House Officer.
These two incidents have been doing the rounds as controversies. A police officer was allegedly assaulted by SFI activists on February 14; but he was booked in a counter case, with non-bailable charges registered against him and his sister. The non-bailable charges were against him, but bailable sections were charged against the SFI workers.
And, the Nagaroor Police have reportedly registered a case against nine DYFI workers for threatening and verbally abusing officials who had come to serve notice in connection with a case in which CPM workers allegedly destroyed a flex board in front of the Congress office in Tiruvananthapuram. The incident was reported on February 28, 2026.
It is the communist style to convert the police department into a force loyal to the ruling party. CPM in Kerala has proved that the state unit is not at all an exception.
