Villagers claimed that two Christian individuals, Tarun and Jyoti from Sunped village in Ballabhgarh, were conducting prayer meetings and attempting to influence Hindu residents, particularly women, to convert to Christianity. Residents alleged that inducements were being offered in exchange for conversion and that several women had already been converted through such meetings.

After receiving information about the gathering, a large number of villagers assembled at the spot and objected to the meeting. Locals, including residents identified as Harinder and Harpal, stated that they were seeking to safeguard their traditional beliefs and cultural practices and demanded that the meeting be stopped. They also warned that outsiders would not be permitted to enter the village to preach another faith.

The situation escalated into a protest, with villagers approaching the police to file a written complaint regarding alleged conversion activities taking place under the guise of prayer meetings. Tarun, however, maintained that he had only organised a prayer meeting and denied carrying out any conversions.
