The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi has announced its temporary closure to visitors until Monday, March 9, citing prevailing security concerns and national advisories in the United Arab Emirates.

In an official statement, the Mandir said the decision was taken “in view of the current situation and in alignment with national security advisories,” adding that the move is a precautionary measure prioritising the safety and wellbeing of devotees and visitors.

The development comes amid heightened tensions in the UAE following recent attacks that have disrupted critical infrastructure, including reported strikes targeting airport facilities. The incidents have led to disturbances in air services, triggering broader security alerts across the region.

Authorities in the UAE have issued advisories urging residents and institutions to remain vigilant as precautionary steps are undertaken to maintain public safety and ensure stability in essential services.

Reflecting this environment, the Mandir stated that while it will remain closed to visitors, prayers will continue within the premises.

“During this period, the Swamis will continue offering prayers within the Mandir for peace, protection, and the welfare of all,” the statement noted.

The Mandir also appealed to the public to remain calm, avoid rumours, stay indoors where advised, and follow safety guidance issued through official government channels.

The statement concluded with a message of solidarity, saying prayers would continue for “harmony and strength for our nation,” with further updates to be shared as the situation evolves.

The move follows Iranian retaliatory strikes after US-Israel attacks on Iran, which disrupted airports including Dubai, where operations were suspended and flights halted due to missile threats and regional airspace closures.
