The accused, identified as Mohammad Aswad, also known as Aswad Haider Sheikh, was taken into custody by the Gujarat Police after serious allegations surfaced against him. Police officials confirmed that the case has been registered under the stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).

According to investigators, the minor girl had been attending private tuition classes at the teacher’s residence. During this time, the accused allegedly sexually assaulted her repeatedly for over a year. He is also accused of threatening the child with severe consequences if she disclosed the abuse to anyone, which reportedly kept the victim silent for a prolonged period. The arrest has triggered strong reactions in the local community. In a visible show of support for law enforcement, residents reportedly showered flower petals on police officials as they escorted the accused, expressing solidarity with the action taken and demanding strict punishment in cases involving crimes against children.

Police have stated that the investigation is ongoing and that efforts are being made to ensure the victim’s safety and confidentiality. Authorities have reiterated that offences under the POCSO Act are treated with utmost seriousness and that swift legal action will follow based on evidence collected during the probe.

The case has once again highlighted concerns over child safety in private coaching environments and the importance of vigilance, awareness, and accessible reporting mechanisms to protect minors from abuse.
