“Our Jammu and Kashmir Budget Is Double than Your IMF Loan”: India Rips into Pakistan at UN

“Jammu and Kashmir was, is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India. No amount of wishful rhetoric or audacious propaganda by Pakistan can alter the immutable fact that the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India was completely legal and irrevocable, in accordance with the Indian Independence Act of 1947 and international law” Anupama Singh said

“Our Jammu and Kashmir Budget Is Double than Your IMF Loan”: India Rips into Pakistan at UN

India delivered a sharp rebuttal to Pakistan’s allegations at the United Nations Human Rights Council, with its representative accusing Islamabad of spreading propaganda on the Jammu & Kashmir issue. In a pointed “right to reply,” during the high-level segment on February 25, Anupama Singh, India’s representative, rejected allegations made by Pakistan and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, stating that the grouping had allowed itself to be used as an “echo chamber” for one member state.

“Pakistan driven by Envy”

What Pakistan and the OIC said during their speeches was not immediately known. On Wednesday, First Secretary Anupama Singh said that Pakistan’s remarks were driven by envy. She stated that India does not wish to give importance to such comments but would present a few factual points to counter and disprove them.

India highlighted the progress and infrastructure development in J&K — including the world’s highest Chenab railway bridge — and contrasted the region’s development budget with the bailout package Pakistan recently sought from the IMF. Anupama said that Pakistan was “living in la-la land” if it could not recognise this reality, asserting that the region’s budget is more than double the IMF bailout Pakistan requested. The remarks were part of New Delhi’s broader effort to counter Pakistan’s narrative and emphasise socio-economic progress in the Union Territory.

What Indian Diplomat Anupama Singh Said

“Jammu and Kashmir was, is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India. No amount of wishful rhetoric or audacious propaganda by Pakistan can alter the immutable fact that the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India was completely legal and irrevocable, in accordance with the Indian Independence Act of 1947 and international law,” Singh said at the session in Geneva.

“Pakistan Living in La-La Land”

Indian Diplomat Anupama Singh said that the only outstanding issue is the illegal occupation of Indian territories by Pakistan. She called upon Islamabad to vacate the areas “under its forcible occupation.” She also added that Pakistan must be living in La-La land.

“The record voter turnout in general and assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir testifies that its people have rejected the ideology of terrorism and violence propagated by Pakistan and are moving forward on the path of development and democracy,” she said.

“If the Chenab Rail Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge inaugurated in Jammu and Kashmir last year, is considered fake, then Pakistan must be living in ‘La-La’ land.” The Indian diplomat said at the UN. She also said that Pakistan could find it unbelievable that the developmental budget of Jammu and Kashmir is more than double the recent bailout package it sought from the IMF.
