Melinda Gates has responded to the latest revelations in the Jeffrey Epstein files, which allege that her ex-husband, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, secretly attempted to give her medication after contracting a sexually transmitted disease from Russian women.
Bill Gates has denied all allegations, calling them “absolutely absurd and completely false.” A spokesperson said the documents reflect Epstein’s frustration at not having an ongoing relationship with Gates and his attempts to entrap and defame the billionaire. Gates has consistently stated that his interactions with Epstein were solely philanthropic.
“For me, it’s personally hard whenever those details come up… it brings back memories of some very, very painful times in my marriage,” Melinda Gates said. She added that her ex-husband and others involved in the Epstein matter must answer for their alleged behaviour. The 61-year-old expressed “unbelievable sadness,” noting, “I left my marriage. I had to leave my marriage. I wanted to leave my marriage…So it’s just sad. That’s the truth.” She also emphasised that she has moved on and hopes the women who were minors when Epstein was active will find justice.
What are Epstein files?
The documents, part of a 3.5-million-page release by the US Justice Department, include emails from Epstein in which he claimed that in July 2013, Gates asked one of his advisers to provide antibiotics to treat a sexually transmitted disease resulting from “sex with Russian girls.” In these communications, Epstein wrote about being involved in Gates’s marital disputes, helping him get drugs, facilitating alleged illicit encounters, and being asked to provide medication for bridge tournaments.
Bill Gates secretly administered medicines to Melinda Gates
In a separate draft email, Epstein accused Gates of trying to “cover up” his alleged deeds to protect his reputation while secretly slipping medicines to Melinda Gates. Epstein warned that if Melinda pursued a public divorce, it could jeopardise billions of dollars pledged to charitable causes. These communications highlight Epstein’s coercive and manipulative tactics, showing him as someone who exploited situations for personal advantage.
The latest release of Epstein communications, including at least seven email drafts from July 17–18, 2013, underscores his long history of manipulation, coercion, and exploitation of powerful individuals for personal gain, leaving a trail of controversy and harm in his wake.
