Sevabharati, an RSS-inspired NGO involved in service activities, is busy carrying out various activities on the banks of the Nila River or Bharatappuzha in connection with the Mahamagh Kumbhmela (January 18 to February 3, 2026). They are involved in supplying and arranging food, drinking water, organising the parking of vehicles, and disposing of waste, to devotees who come the holy dip. The organisers believe that approximately three lakhs of devotees had already visited the Kumbhmela until January 30.
When vehicles reach the site, Sevabharati volunteers, most of whom are RSS swayamsevaks, are present to control the parking of vehicles. They are constantly engaged in distributing drinking water under the scorching sun. In Kerala, winter is now over and the mercury is rising day by day.
Seva Bharati’s service activities during the Kerala Kumbh Mela have truly stood out.

Another mission Sevabharati volunteers have been accomplishing is serving food to devotees. Even though the organisers have managed to arrange food for the devotees, serving them systematically is a Herculean task. Sevabharati workers are doing a great job in this area.
When thousands of people congregate at a place for several hours together, the volume of waste generated goes beyond one’s imagination. Therefore, waste management and its disposal become an extremely hectic job. Here, Seva Bharati is involved in waste management and is doing an exemplary job, preventing the sacred pilgrimage from turning into a chaotic, unhealthy and ugly place.
Sevabharati is a team of selfless workers striving to wipe the tears of suffering people. The entire country has been witnessing this yeoman service of Sevabharati volunteers for more than five decades. Whether it was the cyclone in Andhra Pradesh in 1978, the Machchu Dam failure in Gujarat in 1979, the tsunami in 2005, the Gujarat floods in 2000, the Wayanad landslide of 2024, or any other calamity, Sevabharati volunteers have been present to shift victims to safe centres, recover dead bodies and arrange funerals, clean affected houses, reconstruct villages and rehabilitate victims.
Due to the above reasons, even political opponents of the RSS do not mince words in lauding the selfless activities of Sevabharati workers. In Kerala, workers of Sevabharati and the RSS meet hundreds of people who are ready to contribute towards Sevabharati’s service activities without any reservation. In Kerala, when people are given a choice between contributing to Sevabharati or to the state, they choose the former without any hesitation. This reflects the sterling quality of Sevabharati workers.
Sevabharati is deeply involved in service activities at the Mahamagh Kumbhmela. “Manav Seva Madhav Seva” (Serving man is equal to serving God) has been the motto of Sevabharati since its inception. They are present wherever people need seva. Mahamagh Kumbhmela is the latest programme and place where Sevabharati’s mettle has once again been proved.
