US President Donald Trump is indifferent to the climate catastrophes. He doesn’t accept the drastically scaling phenomenon of climate change as a geographical reality. The globally accepted climate actions and green energy norms don’t align with the geopolitical ambitions of President Trump. Thus, he is antithetical to global warming and associated adverse impact. All he heeds for, is to the unbridled fossil fuel exploration and capitalising the US hegemony surrounding it across the geopolitical landscape. In fact, President Trump’s aspirations for Greenland are corresponding to this urge to capture rich energy resources in the region.
However, the emerging geographical inevitability is reflecting the myth weaved by President Trump. It is debunking Trump’s fantasy and exposing the fact that climate change is indeed a reality and the people across the globe are set to suffer from its impact. In a biggest testament to the transactional nature of President Trump who doesn’t care about the long-term goals, a massive cyclone is set to hit the East Coast of the United States. As the American society is entangled in a devastating winter storm leading to severe death tolls, ‘Cyclone Bomb’ is set to bombard the Eastern Coast of the US, which is anticipated with massive ripple effect.
Winter storm to soar massive snow fall
As per the meteorological experts, a severe storm will rapidly strengthen along the East Coast of the United States by this weekend which will lead to heavy snow fall from the Carolinas to New England. Thus, huge coastal flooding is anticipated. A strom will intensify along the Atlantic Ocean causing paramount damage to the coastal life in the United States. South East, Mid-Atlantic and New England coasts will be hard-hit coastal zones due to the rapidly accumulating snow.
The blizzard conditions(a very bad storm with strong winds and a lot of accumulating or swiftly blowing snow combined with gusty winds that reduces visibility) will disrupt lives including the closure of major airports. 13 states of the United States are suffering from severe winter storm which includes Florida Peninsula, Alabama, Georgia, Carolinas, South Virginia, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota. The states have to bear severe cold and unbearable living conditions. This is not the maiden catastrophe for the US this year. The country is hitherto badly affected by an unprecedented winter storm in the current seasonal cycle. More than 30 people have been killed in the previous week across 13 states.
For example, the Nashville region was hard-hit by snow and ice storms in the previous week. With ‘cyclone bomb’, the region is said to be covered with inches of snow from the ground level. As per the forecasts, the Atlanta region is also expected to receive massive snow fall and freezing conditions that will disrupt livelihoods. The rapidly blowing snow and harsh winds will evolve into a catastrophic cyclone by Saturday, which meteorologists call a bomb cyclone, characterised with rapid intensification of storms and hurricanes, thus disrupting lives and livelihood.
Trump mocked climate change as a myth which is creating mishap in the US
As mentioned earlier, President Donald Trump denounced climate change as a myth. He mocked green energy initiatives and pulled the US out of global climate frameworks such as UNFCCC or the Paris Agreement. On many occasions, Trump has mocked global warming as a “hoax” and has advocated for the promotion of the fossil fuel industry. In September 2025, during the United Nations General Assembly speech, President Trump reiterated climate change as a “con job”, a deceitful game or trick designed to make people believe in the false aspects. Thus he called climate change and associated initiatives as a scam, fraud or a manipulation technique.
“This climate change, it’s the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world, in my opinion. All of these predictions made by the United Nations and many others, often for bad reasons, were wrong. They were made by stupid people that have cost their countries fortunes and given those same countries no chance for success. If you don’t get away from this green scam, your country is going to fail”, exclaimed Trump during the UNGA speech. These myths are now being busted by climate reality as it massively hits the United States itself. More than 13 states in the American coasts are dwindling with the destructive nature of climate catastrophes. The scale and intensity of the crisis is only set to escalate further in the coming decades.
As per the UNFCCC reports, the average temperature of the earth’s surface has breached the imposed threshold limit of 1.5 degree Celsius, which was mentioned in the Paris Agreement. The agreement further compels the world nations to limit the global temperature rise to below 2 degree celcius by the end of the century, which is however a herculean task and beyond reality. At such a critical geographical juncture, green energy initiatives and bringing structural change in the global climate compass is inevitable. However, the world’s largest economy and the largest emitter of Green House Gases(GHGs), the United States of America is averse to these changes under the Trump administration.
President Trump, in fact, promotes more and more use of fossil fuels with his popular slogans such as “drill baby drill”. It is clear that Trump aims to consolidate his power and dictate the terms of world order with the hegemonic tool called “energy”. However, will President Trump realise the reality of climate change, when it hits his own country, which he aspires to “Make Great Again”. Don’t the climate catastrophes and disruptive economy derail the growth momentum of the US that will in turn act as a prickle to fulfil the ambitions of Trump?
Witnessing the climate nightmare within the US should interdict Trump to vouch on fossil fuels and should espouse climate actions or on green energy credentials. But, the world has witnessed the hyper transactional style of Trump’s leadership and his hegemonic aspirations. From tariff tantrums to fossil fuel demands, Trump follows a disrupted foreign policy where there is no scope for balanced world order or multilateralism. He heeds for short term gains rather than long-term global stability, which is known in the style of trade negotiations Trump does and the imposition of irrational tariffs. Thus, will a bomb cyclone hitting the US, rectify the bewildered behaviour of Trump concerning climate change. It is an enigma!
