An awakened society must confront social challenges before they escalate into national security concerns, said Dr Shashidhar, General Secretary of Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti, after obtaining permission from the Telangana High Court to hold the public meeting Dharma Rakshana Sabha, scheduled for January 24, 2026. He said the meeting aims to raise awareness about security concerns arising from the illegal settlements of Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators in and around Hyderabad.
Reacting to the order, Dr Shashidhar thanked the Telangana High Court for allowing the conduct of the ‘Dharma Rakshana Sabha’ as scheduled on January 24 at Balapur, and for directing the Hyderabad City Police to provide security for the event, after the State government had earlier denied permission, citing concerns that it would disturb public order.
He described the High Court’s decision as a “victory for righteousness” and accused the state Congress government of attempting to prevent the meeting.

“The movement is aimed at safeguarding the future of Bhagyanagar and the security of the nation. Despite this, the state government tried to obstruct a peaceful and democratic public meeting,” he said, thanking the High Court and the legal team for allowing the event to go ahead.
He elaborated on the purpose of the proposed gathering under the slogan of ‘Jago Bhagyanagar – Chalo Balapur’, stating that it seeks to highlight alleged demographic changes and national security issues arising from illegal infiltrators.
“The unfortunate part is that the government, which did not act on our earlier representation seeking permission, came before the High Court and stated that around 7,000 to 8,000 Rohingyas are allegedly settled in the Balapur area, with the settlement located about 500 metres from the proposed meeting venue,” the advocate said.
He added that the Congress government also claimed it did not have exact data on the number of alleged Bangladeshi immigrants.
Dr Shashidhar stated that the Jago Bhagyanagar movement would continue until, as he put it, alleged illegal infiltrators in Bhagyanagar are identified and deported. He also appealed to citizens to participate in large numbers, assuring that the meeting would be conducted in a democratic and lawful manner.
Calling for public participation, Dr Shashidhar said, “Our demand is limited to identifying, verifying, and deporting illegal immigrants.”
The Hyderabad City Police is expected to put in place security and traffic arrangements in Balapur on January 24, in compliance with the High Court’s order.
The Ganesh Sena, the youth wing of Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti, is organising this public programme, “Jago Bhagyanagar – Chalo Balapur”, and has appealed for unity to safeguard the heritage and social security of Bhagyanagar, stating that the historic city is facing multi-dimensional challenges.
