Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has taken a major step in the healthcare and medical technology sector under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership. Once known primarily for its vast population of 25 crore, the state is now being recognised as India’s largest and most dynamic hub for healthcare services and medical technology innovation. Speaking at the Uttar Pradesh HealthTech Conclave in Lucknow, CM Yogi Adityanath said UP has not only strengthened its healthcare infrastructure but also positioned itself as a major centre for innovation, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and medical research. The conclave witnessed the launch of UP-IMRAS (Uttar Pradesh Integrated Medical Research Application System), a pioneering initiative designed to position the state as a global hub for clinical research, medical trials, and health innovation.

The Chief Minister emphasised that the new system will enable clinical trials to be conducted more effectively before launching new pharmaceutical products and medical devices. This will bring Uttar Pradesh at par with international standards in healthcare research and development. He said that the state government aims to position Uttar Pradesh as a national and global hub for medical technology, healthcare innovation, and pharmaceutical production. He said Uttar Pradesh’s healthcare transformation aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) 2047 and the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Through continuous reforms, strategic investments, and digital integration, Uttar Pradesh has turned into a destination for healthcare and medical technology companies from across India and abroad.

With a population of 25 crore, nearly equal to that of several countries combined, Uttar Pradesh was once seen as a state with immense healthcare challenges. However, CM Yogi said that this large population has now become the state’s strength. Uttar Pradesh is catering not only to its own healthcare needs but also to those of neighbouring states and even patients from other parts of India.

The establishment of advanced hospitals, AI-driven diagnostic systems, telemedicine facilities, and rural health centres has made healthcare services more accessible. Several medical colleges have been opened or upgraded across districts, which has improved the doctor-to-patient ratio and ensured last-mile healthcare delivery.

The highlight of the event was the formal launch of UP-IMRAS, the Integrated Medical Research Application System developed for the residents of Uttar Pradesh. Through this platform, clinical trials for pharmaceutical products and medical devices will be streamlined, ensuring safety, transparency, and accountability. The initiative focuses on reducing the dependency on foreign research setups by developing indigenous testing and approval systems. This will save both time and cost for pharmaceutical companies and medical institutions. It will also help attract investments from global healthcare companies seeking reliable and large-scale clinical data from India.

CM Yogi said that with its robust network of medical institutions and modern health infrastructure, Uttar Pradesh is not only self-sufficient but also emerging as the healthcare hub for northern and eastern India. He added that the state’s medical technology parks will soon rival those in countries such as Singapore and South Korea in terms of innovation and output.

One of the remarkable aspects of Uttar Pradesh’s healthcare transformation is the integration of digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medical services. From teleconsultation platforms in rural areas to AI-based diagnostics and predictive analytics in urban hospitals, the state is redefining how healthcare is delivered.

UP’s digital health mission is also enabling the seamless exchange of medical records and data between hospitals, laboratories, and research institutions. This interconnected system not only reduces medical errors but also speeds up treatment and enhances patient safety. The rise of the medtech and healthcare industry in Uttar Pradesh has created thousands of new employment opportunities. From doctors and nurses to biomedical engineers and IT professionals, the sector is witnessing an unprecedented demand for skilled manpower. The government’s Skill Development Mission is training youth in specialised healthcare and technical roles to meet the growing industry requirements. CM Yogi emphasised that empowering youth through skill enhancement is a key pillar of the state’s development model.

Experts attending the conclave hailed the UP government’s efforts in transforming the healthcare landscape. They noted that initiatives like UP-IMRAS and medical device manufacturing policies could make Uttar Pradesh a major global player in healthcare and pharmaceutical innovation within the next decade.

CM Yogi concluded by reaffirming his government’s commitment to providing every citizen access to affordable, modern, and effective healthcare services. “Our goal is to make Uttar Pradesh not only the healthcare capital of India but also a trusted partner in global health innovation,” he said. With visionary leadership, technological advancement, and citizen-centric policies, Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a model state in healthcare excellence, one that sets the benchmark for the rest of the country.
