GUWAHATI: Bharat is a nuclear nation, and Bangladesh shouldn’t even think about capturing the Northeast region of the country in their wildest dream, said Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a government program, the CM said, India is a vast country and the fourth-largest economy in the world. But after the political toppling of Sheikh Hasina, it is a topic of discussion in the country to capture the Northeast of India.

The country’s current leadership even presented maps of Bangladesh, including Northeast India, to foreign guests on various occasions. This is a dirty thought from the nation’s leadership. India should end all the help it had earlier offered to Bangladesh, and it should be taught a lesson that if you think of separating the Northeast region from Bharat, what could be the result, CM Sarma said. He also said that you can’t treat Bangladesh as a friendly country now, and that we have to remain alert at all times. They have a sinister design so far as the Northeast is concerned, and now it is apparent.

Last week, Pro-Jammat, a former Bangladeshi army officer and senior BNP leader, at a public rally urged everyone to unite to secede from the country. The fiery hate speech marks one of the strongest public challenges to India’s territorial integrity from across the border in recent times, escalating tensions in an already sensitive region. During a political discussion in Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka, pro-Jamaat former army officer Col Abdul Haque calls for national unity of the anti-India forces in the country to capture the Northeast states.

He said, “ until we capture and create 7 separate nations in India’s Northeast, Bangladesh is not safe. Our people are sitting there to create separate nations in India’s Northeast, but so far we are not being able to help them. This is not a secret now, I am saying it publicly.” Col (Rtd) Haque further said, India is planning to capture our country. So we must create a separate nation in India’s Northeast, and to that end, we need to provide military training to our youth. The radical former army officer further said that India is eying the hill Chittagong area of Bangladesh to capture, so that they can gradually capture other areas of the country. “They created political parties in Bangladesh to run their agenda, not only that they put their men in the Bangladesh army, police and civil service to weaken the county,” he said. The pro-Pakistan leader further said, “we need to be united against India. Only the Bangladesh army can’t save the country. We need to train our youth, and military training for youth has already begun. This is for the survival of our country. We need to create our new neighborhood.”

Meanwhile, top sources in Bangladesh have claimed that the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI is creating new terror groups in Bangladesh composed of displaced Rohingyas and stranded Pakistanis. These groups include suicide squads, which will be utilised against India in the future. Earlier, many top army officials in Bangladesh also made controversial statements on Northeast India. Recently, Bangladesh interim head Muhammed Yunus gifted a very controversial map of the country, which includes all of Northeast India, to Pakistan Army General Sahir Shamshad Mirza. Though India has not officially reacted to it, public sentiment in the Northeast is growing against the repeated attempts by Bangladesh to attack the territorial integrity of India.
