Guwahati: After Assam, jihadis are now targeting Arunachal Pradesh. While agitation by indigenous people against the settlement of suspected Bangladeshi Muslims and construction of illegal mosques are taking its pace, numbers of Pakistani spies are being apprehended in the border state. Arunachal police have arrested 4 Muslims from Jammu and Kashmir for spying for Pakistan from different places of Arunachal Pradesh. On December 14 West Siang police arrested one person from Kupwara district of J&K on charge of spying for Pakistan. The person identified as Hilala Ahmed has been arrested from Alo town in Arunachal Pradesh. Another person identified as Ghulam Mohammad Mir who is also from J&K was arrested from Changlang district of the state.

West Siang district police superintendent said, a case (81/2025) was registered in Itanagar police station of some unknown person for preparing war, spying, gathering information and passing it to the enemy nation under UAP Act. While investigating the case, credible information was gathered by the agencies that one person from J&K is gathering information on Indian armed forces in the Alo area. Based on the input from intelligence agencies an operation was conducted and a person namely Hilal Ahmed from Kupwara was arrested by the police. He was transferring information on vital security installations of the Indian army in Arunachal Pradesh to his handlers in Pakistan via Telegram app.

Police said that the arrested person entered Arunachal Pradesh on November 25 to participate in a trade fair. He identified himself as a trader of Kashmiri blankets while applying for the inner line permit. After entering Arunachal Pradesh he started gathering information, pictures of the vital installations of armed forces, movement of army convoys etc in the sensitive areas of West Siang district.

Earlier on December 11, Arunachal Pradesh police arrested two Muslims from J&K for spying for Pakistan. The arrested spies were identified as Nazir Ahmad Malik and Sabir Ahmed Mir, both from Kupwara district in J&K. Both the arrested persons entered Arunachal as traders of Kashmiri products and were running small businesses in Itanagar. But besides showing as small vendors, their main objective was to collect vital information on Indian armed forces and pass it to Pakistani handlers. A case has been registered under UAPA for waging war against India, spying for the enemy nation, gathering and sharing information on armed forces etc in Itanagar.

On the basis of the information revealed by the arrested persons, Arunachal police launched a massive operation across the state and arrested two more Pakistani spies from J&K. Police seized several mobile phones from the custody of the arrested Pakistani spies. Many pictures, information on Indian army installations, movements, information on paramilitary forces, vital data were recovered from the mobile phones. All these were transferred to their Pakistani handlers via a Telegram group “AL AQSA”. It should be mentioned that thousands of Muslims from Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, UP, Bihar have entered Arunachal Pradesh showing small trade as a reason for entry to the tribal state. But many of them have been involved in anti national and anti social activities after entering the border state.
