New Delhi: Two personnel of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were injured in a Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast on December 14, Sunday in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district, police said. The explosion occurred when the personnel were out on an anti-Maoist campaign.

Both the injured personnel belongs to the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), an elite unit of the CRPF. The injured men have been identified as Head Constable Alok Das and constable Narayan Das. They were both evacuated from the spot and administered primary treatment before being airlifted to Ranchi. Their condition remains stable.

The drive was launched in the forest area of Saranda, the only remaining stronghold of Maoists in the state. Officials hinted that campaign against Maoists will be intensified in the region.

Anti-Maoist campaign is in full swing across affected states with forces neutralising over two dozen top commanders of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) since 2019. This including the neutralisation of 14 top commanders of the banned group in separate operations launched in 2025 alone.

Security camp opened in Kamlapur of Bijapur

In a related development, security forces opened up yet another security camp in Maoist-affected Basaguda of Bijpaur on December 13. The Forward Operation Base (FOB) was setup by the 229th battalion of the CRPF, marking a significant forward towards establishing peace in the region.

The camp established at Kamplapur under the jurisdiction of Basaguda police station limits of Bijapur was inaugurated by DIG Bijpaur Range BS Negi on Saturday. The newly established FOB is equipped with three layer security and expected to further strengthen the overall security apparatus in the region.

More than 60 such security camps have been opened up in remote regions of Chhattisgarh earlier dominated by Maoists, as part of security forces decisive campaign against Naxals aimed at eradicating the red terror menace by March next year.
