Raipur: Chhattisgarh state cabinet on December 10 approved a structured mechanism for the disposal/withdrawal of the cases registered against surrendered Maoists.

The cabinet in the meeting held in Raipur approved the formation of a cabinet sub-committee which will review and examine the cases filed against surrendered Naxalites in the state, said the government in an official statement issued.

The committee after scrutinising the cases will present it before the state cabinet for final approval, it added.

The decision was taken in accordance with the Chhattisgarh ‘Naxal Surrender Cum Victim Rehabilitation Policy 2025’ of the state which allows resolution of cases filed against surrendered Maoists based on their good conduct and contribution in the anti-Maoist campaign.

According to details, a district-level committee will be formed which will submit its report to the police headquarter for the withdrawal of criminal cases against surrendered Maoists.

The police headquarter after attaching its opinion will forward the proposal for inputs from the law department. The cases will be then produced before the sub-committee which in turn will recommend it to the cabinet for final approval.

The statement issued by the government added, that necessary approvals will be obtained from the Union Government in cases related to the Union Acts. The other cases will be sent to District Magistrate for withdrawal through public prosecutors.

Among the other decisions, the cabinet also approved the draft of Chhattisgarh Jan Vishwas ( Amendment of Provisions) (Second ) Bill, 2025 which aims to simplify 116 provisions of 14 Acts of 11 departments.

The bill aims to promote ease of doing business and living by introducing administrative penalties for minor violations which is expected to reduce burden on courts along providing faster resolution to the citizens.

The bill, as per government will address many shortcoming and promote good governance. Significantly, Chhattisgarh is the first state in the country where the second version of the Jan Vishwas Bill is being brought up.

The cabinet also accorded nod to Chhattisgarh Appropriation Bill, 2025 for presentation of the First Supplementary Estimate for the year 2025-26 in the assembly.
