ABVP Elections: Prof RK Tiwari elected national president, Dr Virendra Singh Solanki re-elected as General Secretary

NEW DELHI: The election procedure for the post of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) National President and National General Secretary was successfully completed today and the results were announced from the central office of ABVP in Mumbai. Prof. (Dr.) Raghuraj Kishore Tiwari (Madhya Pradesh) got elected as National President and Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki (Madhya Pradesh) is the re-elected ABVP National General Secretary for the year 2024-2025.

While announcing the results of the election of ABVP’s National President and ABVP’s National General Secretary, the Election Officer and special invitee member to the National Executive Committee of ABVP, Prof. (Dr.) Masadi Bapurao, stated that both the office bearers will assume their responsibility during the 71st ABVP National Conference scheduled to be held on 28, 29 and 30 November in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

Prof. (Dr.) Raghuraj Kishore Tiwari hails originally from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. He completed his education up to PhD in Agronomy from Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (Agricultural University), Jabalpur. Presently, he is serving as a Professor in the Department of Agronomy at the Rewa campus of the same university. He has been associated with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) since 1987. As a student activist, he served as the elected President of the Student Union of the College of Agriculture, Rewa, and also as the State Secretary of the Mahakaushal Prant. As a teacher, he was honoured with the University’s Best Teacher Award (2014) by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and received the Distinguished Scientist Award (2016) from prestigious Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He has published over 125 research papers at national and international levels, authored three books on Agronomy, guided more than 50 minor research projects, and supervised three doctoral dissertations.

As the Principal Investigator, he represented his university in a joint research project conducted at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines. He played a pivotal role as a member of the implementation committee of the National Education Policy in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Previously, he served as Mahakaushal Provincial President and National Vice President (2006-09). Currently, he is the Principal Advisor for Agricultural Student Activities (Agrivision) and a Special Invitee Member of the National Executive Council. He has been elected as the National President of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad for the year 2025-26. His residence is in Rewa.

Dr Virendra Singh Solanki hails originally from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He completed his MBBS from Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences (SAIMS), Indore and is pursuing a Doctor of Medicine with specialisation in Community Medicine at the same institute. He has been active in ABVP since 2014. Through ‘MeDeVision’ – an initiative of ABVP for allopathy students, he has provided national leadership to medical and dental students and has played a pivotal role in resolving their key concerns. He led a successful campaign at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore, demanding the suspension of the Vice Chancellor on the charges of corruption and irregularities in examinations.

He has successfully led the agitation in Madhya Pradesh for reimbursement of commercialisation-driven fee hikes in private medical colleges and, in 2018, spearheaded efforts to save the academic career of students of another private medical college which was shut down abruptly. Through a family-run clinic, he is providing the service of medical consultation and distribution of medicines to the deprived sections of our society at low costs. He has previously held responsibilities such as College President, Indore City Secretary, State In-charge of MeDeVision, Central Working Committee Member, MeDeVision National Convener and the National Secretary of ABVP. He has been re-elected as the National General Secretary for the year 2025-26. His residence is in Indore.
