Delhi Blast: Massive explosion near Red Fort metro station leaves 8 dead, NIA team reaches the spot

A major car blast occured near Red Fort Metro Station of New Delhi. The incident has caused several deaths and many are critically injured. New Delhi is on high-alert and security personnel are investigating the cause of the explosion

New Delhi: An explosion was reported in a car near the Red Fort Metro Station in the national capital territoy(NCR) on November 10(Monday).  According to the Delhi Fire Department, a call was received regarding an explosion in a car near Gate No.1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, after which three to four vehicles also caught fire and sustained damage.

A total of seven fire tenders have reached the spot. A team from the Delhi Police Special Cell has also reached the spot. As per the latest reports, several have been severely injured and has been taken to the LNJP hospital for treatment. According to report from LNJP, at least eight people have been killed. “The call was about an explosion in a car near Gate No. 1 of Red Fort Metro Station, following which three to four vehicles caught fire”, officials of Delhi Fire Department confirmed.

Following the blast, National Capital is on high-alert. Police and security personnel have been deployed across the territory. Forensic teams have rushed to the site of the blast and are examining the site to decode the cause of the explosion. As per the incoming reports, when a parked car blasted there was a chain reaction and nearby vehicles caught fire.

Earlier today, nearly 2,900 kg of explosives and inflammable materials were recovered by the Police in Faridabad, Haryana, which was suspected to be infused with ammonium nitrate and also several arms and amunitions were recovered. Many suspects were arrested. Thus, the conspiracy to attack Delhi had been debunked before the latest unfortunate incident took place in the late evening.
