In a deeply disturbing incident October 27, 2025. a hidden camera was discovered inside the girls’ washroom of the Zilla Parishad Government School at Kurikyal village in Gangadhara mandal of Karimnagar district. The shocking revelation came to light on Monday when girl students noticed a flashing device inside the restroom and immediately informed their parents.

The parents rushed to the school premises and confronted the management, expressing outrage over the gross breach of privacy and safety and demanding immediate action against those responsible.

Following the commotion, the school principal alerted the Gangadhara Police. Choppadandi Circle Inspector Pradeep Kumar and his team reached the spot, seized the device, and began collecting forensic evidence from the premises.

Preliminary police findings indicate that the hidden camera was allegedly installed by school attender Yakub Pasha, who has since gone absconding. Police have launched a manhunt to trace the accused and are interrogating staff members to establish whether others were involved in concealing the act.

Meanwhile, in response to the allegations of sexual harassment and negligence, District Collector Pamela Satpathy constituted a three-member official inquiry team to investigate the incident. The committee, after detailed examination, submitted its report to the Collector.

Proceeding orders issued by District Collector

The report revealed that Headmistress Kamala had threatened school staff to remain silent, failed to ensure student safety, and suppressed the facts from higher authorities. Based on these findings, District Collector Pamela Satpathy issued suspension orders against Headmistress Kamala, directing that she should not leave the headquarters without prior permission while the inquiry remains active.

The report on the incident has been forwarded to the Telangana Women and Child Welfare Department.

The Collector had earlier initiated Snehita Clubs and similar student welfare programs across schools to safeguard the interests of girl students.

Notably, this incident follows a similar case reported earlier this year at CMR College of Engineering, owned by BRS leader and Medchal MLA Malla Reddy, where secret cameras were found inside a hostel in January 2025.
