Bihar: “Announcements wont make an impact,” says BJP-JDU leaders on promises made by Tejashwi Yadav to Jeevika Didis

Patna: The BJP-JDU led NDA allies have lashed out at the promises made to Jeevika Didis and contractual workers in Bihar by RJD Leader Tejashwi Yadav in a news conference on October 21.

Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad said, “The people of Bihar have decided to ensure that the RJD and the mahagathbandhan, which we also call ‘thagbandhan’, do not come to power… His announcements are not going to impact the people or the elections in Bihar…”

BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said that Tejashwi Yadav should stop joking with the people of Bihar alleging that if the RJD came to power they would take people’s house in return for a job.

“Tejashwi ji should stop joking with the people of Bihar… After Nitish Kumar’s government came to power in Bihar, many schemes for women’s empowerment have been running in the state. Govt schemes from Har Ghar Sauchalaya, to Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, to Mudhra Yojaya, Lakhpati Didi and Drone Didi are evidence of our thinking of 10 years… For women empowerment, NDA and Nitish ji have a methodical, consistent and pragmatic approach…Tejaswhi ji said he will give 10 lakh jobs, but its actual meaning is that they will give a job for (Rs) 10 lakhs. It means now they will take house and property for a job, like earlier they took land for a job,” Trivedi said.

Senior JDU leader KC Tyagi said that Tejashwi’s promises held no merit as these had been fulfilled by the Nitish Kumar government.

“All the promises and announcements that Tejashwi Yadav is making, the Bihar government has already fulfilled all those promises. Whether it’s about women’s reservation, women’s empowerment, livelihoods, or education,” Tyagi said.

BJP leader Ajay Alok said,” The most corrupt person, who is out on bail in a corruption case, is saying that corruption has happened?… Infighting is going on in the grand alliance, shoes are flying, and now their (Tejashwi Yadav’s) sleep has broken that they want to change Bihar… In 15 years of Lalu-Rabri’s rule, Bihar hadn’t even heard the ‘J’ of Jivika, and today he (Tejashwi Yadav) remembers Jivika… RJD’s Jivika is loot, murder, illegal liquor, and sand business… And it’s true that there will be change… This time they (RJD) won’t even get 21 seats that they got last time.”

Earlier, making his agenda for the polls clear Tejashwi Yadav announced that Jeevika Didis, who work as community mobilisers, will be made permanent as government employees after the Mahagathbandhan forms government in Bihar.

While addressing a press conference here, Bihar Leader of Opposition (LoP) Tejashwi Yadav assured that the salary of Jeevika Didis will be increased to Rs 30,000 per month. He also took a dig at the double-engine government over its decision to provide Rs 10,000 under the Mai Bahin Maan Yojana as assembly elections get closer, labelling it as a “bribe”. (ANI)
