Guwahati: Akhil Bhartiya Vidharthy Parishad (ABVP) has won the Guwahati University student union election with a thumping win in the President and General Secretary position. In the Post Graduate Student Union (PGSU) election held on 14th October ABVP showed tremendous rise as the saffron student body won 6 positions in the union body.
In the students’ union election of Guwahati University — a leading educational institution in Northeast India, fondly known as Krishnachura City — the candidates supported by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) have successfully secured victories in key positions, including President, General Secretary, Music Secretary, Fine Arts Secretary, Major Games Secretary, Sports Secretary, and Gymnasium Secretary. Thanking the students of the largest university of the region, ABVP said, “We express our heartfelt gratitude to the student community of Krishnachura City for giving their full support to ABVP’s dedicated efforts to lead not just with words, but through action.”
As per the result of the student body election ABVP candidate Gunjan Deka won in the presidential post securing 1978 votes and defeated his nearest candidate with over 700 vote margin. Likewise ABVP candidate Pranab Jyoti Sharma won in GS post securing 1932 votes. It should be mentioned that for the first time ABVP supported candidates have won both the President and General Secretary post in the Guwahati University student body election.

Guwahati University is a confluence of dreams and aspirations. The General Election to the Post Graduate Students’ Union (PGUSU) of Guwahati University was held yesterday.
