Manipur: Terrorists ambush army convoy; 2 Assam Rifles soldiers martyred, 5 critically injured

Guwahati: Terrorists ambush army convoy in Manipur. Two Assam Rifle brave soldiers were martyred in the deadly ambush by unidentified terrorists in a hilly terrain. Five other soldiers were critically injured in the deadly ambush on the moving convoy of the 33 Assam Rifles unit. A statement by army reads that, on September 19, 2025, at around 5:50 pm, a vehicle based column of troops of 33 Assam Rifles unit was moving on National highway 2 during hours of darkness in a heavily built up area.

In the general area, Nambol Sabal Leikai, the column was ambushed by unidentified terrorists on the Highway, in the denotified area of Manipur. In the ensuing action, two personnel of Assam Rifles were martyred and five are injured who have since been evacuated to RIMS and are currently stable. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility. Search operations are ongoing to eliminate the terrorists involved in the incident.

Sources said that heavy deployment of security forces have been done on the spot. Search and cordon operations are going on by the joint forces in search of the terrorists.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Security forces have launched search operations to apprehend the terrorists involved in the incident, officials added.
