Telangana: Delhi Police arrest Huzaifa Yaman from Bodhan in pan-India terror module case

Their plan was two-fold. First, they had to form a Khilafat-style group. They have their own team, which is called Lashkar, and after that, they had to do Jihad, Ghazwa-e-Hind type, on the basis of their distorted concept of understanding of Islam. Plus, some targeted killings were to be tasked to them

Nizamabad, Sept 11: Delhi Police on 10 September arrested Huzaifa Yaman from Bodhan town in Nizamabad district for suspected links to an international and interstate terror module. He was shifted to the capital for interrogation after his name surfaced during investigations into the busted network, which had earlier led to arrests in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Sources said he had been making frequent international phone calls, and an airgun was seized from his residence.

Speaking to media, Pramod Singh Kushwaha, Additional CP of the Special Cell, Delhi, says,”A Pan India terror module has been busted. Five people have been arrested in this. Ashhar Danish, a resident of Ranchi, was the central character. Along with him, two people were from Mumbai- Sufiyan Abubakar Khan and Aaftab Ansari. These two people were arrested from Delhi. One Huzaifa Yaman has been arrested from Nizamabad, Telangana and one Kamran Qureshi has been arrested from Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh. A large quantity of materials and precursors for making IED have been seized from them. Weapons and cartridges were recovered from them. Their plan was two-fold. First, they had to form a Khilafat-style group. They have their own team, which is called Lashkar, and after that, they had to do Jihad, Ghazwa-e-Hind type, on the basis of their distorted concept of understanding of Islam. Plus, some targeted killings were to be tasked to them. Eleven people were picked up, out of which five have been arrested. Investigation of the rest is still going on. Ashhar Danish’s handler is a Pak-backed handler. He was trying to give the impression from outside that he is running a professional company. So he used to code CEO. While in his inner group, his code was Ghazwa leader and as an NGO, he was trying to acquire land…They had an internal group, these are highly radicalised boys.

However, this is not the first time Nizamabad has figured prominently in national security alerts. In July 2022, Abdul Khader, a PFI member and trainer, was arrested at Autonagar in Nizamabad. His diary revealed that over 200 people in the district had undergone training, with 23 marked as key operatives. Following his arrest, more PFI members including district convener Sheikh Shadulla, Mohammed Imran, and Mohammed Abdullah were taken into custody.

Subsequent investigations exposed how Nizamabad, along with Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh, had been used as a base camp by PFI to train cadres in carrying out killings and inciting communal violence. In coordinated operations, NIA and SIA carried out raids across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and other states, arresting 170 people. Documents revealed that the organisation, which evolved from the banned SIMI, had collected over Rs 120 crore from abroad and maintained links with global terror groups like ISIS and Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The district had earlier seen controversy in 2018 when 74 passports were illegally issued to Bangladeshi nationals using fake addresses in Bodhan. At one point, 24 passports were issued on a single house number. Later, Rohingya migrants were also found to have been issued Aadhaar cards in the town.
