The NIA took over the probe into the matter in February 2024 from Bijapur police which had initially registered the case in March 2023.

The NIA investigations into the case revealed that Raghu Midiyami was president of the said Moolvasi Bachao Manch, Bastar Division, a frontal organization of the banned CPI [Maoist].

Midiyami was said to be involved in activities such as collection, storage, and disbursal of illegal funds for CPI [Maoist] and the affiliated frontal organisations – Moolvasi Bachao Manch.
