Uttar Pradesh sets milestone in empowering women with 9,172 women beats and 19,839 officers

Under CM Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, Uttar Pradesh has strengthened women’s safety and empowerment with 9,172 women beats, 19,839 women beat officers, and 3 all-women PAC battalions. New women police stations, outposts, and Pink Booths are enabling security, respect, and self-reliance for the state’s daughters

Under the strong leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is witnessing a transformative shift in women empowerment and security. The state, which has long been striving to create a safer environment for its women, is now seeing its daughters not just stepping out with confidence but also actively participating in UP law enforcement. Women are not merely beneficiaries of security measures; they are becoming the protectors themselves. This is leading the way toward a more inclusive and safe Uttar Pradesh.

The government has made it clear that the mantra of women empowerment in the new Uttar Pradesh rests on three pillars – Security, Respect, and Self-Reliance. These are not just slogans but actionable policies that are backed by concrete initiatives. By inducting women into policing roles and creating exclusive platforms for their participation, the state has taken a major step towards ensuring both women’s safety and their economic independence.

Currently, the state has set up 9,172 dedicated women beats, where 19,839 women beat police officers have been appointed. These officers are responsible not only for maintaining law and order but also for instilling confidence among women in local communities. Their presence ensures that women in both urban and rural areas feel safe to approach law enforcement without hesitation.

The induction of women into the police force in such large numbers has brought about a psychological shift in society. Where once police stations were male-dominated spaces, today women officers are breaking barriers and setting examples. Daughters of Uttar Pradesh are no longer confined to traditional roles; they are carrying the uniform and working shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts.

By serving as beat officers, women are directly engaging with communities, listening to grievances, addressing safety concerns, and taking quick action in cases related to harassment, domestic violence, or any form of exploitation. Their presence itself acts as a deterrent against crimes targeting women.

The Uttar Pradesh government has set up three all-women PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) battalions, honoring them with the names of valiant and fearless women. This initiative not only acknowledges the sacrifices and achievements of women in history but also inspires today’s generation to walk on the same path of bravery.

These battalions have been tasked with important responsibilities, from maintaining law and order during sensitive events to providing support in disaster management and ensuring public safety during major gatherings.

Expanding Infrastructure for Women’s Safety

The empowerment of women is not limited to their induction into the police force. Under CM Yogi’s leadership, the government has also worked extensively on creating physical and institutional infrastructure for women’s safety.

New women police stations have been established across districts, providing a dedicated space for women to file complaints and seek justice
Women police outposts have been set up to ensure that help is always within reach, especially in sensitive areas
The creation of Pink Booths adds another layer of security, serving as quick-response points where women can immediately approach police officers in case of emergencies

Together, these facilities provide women with a sense of assurance that the system is working for them and that their voices will be heard without bias or delay.

What makes this transformation remarkable is the dual impact it creates. On one hand, women feel more secure in their surroundings; on the other hand, thousands of young women are gaining meaningful employment by becoming part of the police force. This is the foundation of self-reliance.

Women police officers are not just earning salaries; they are earning respect from society. Their uniforms symbolize dignity, responsibility, and empowerment. Families that once hesitated to allow daughters into public service now take pride in seeing them serve as protectors of law and order in Uttar Pradesh.

The presence of women in police roles has also contributed to a change in the mindset of society. It sends out a strong message that women are capable of handling not just domestic responsibilities but also demanding and challenging professions. The traditional image of the police as a male-dominated force is gradually being replaced by a more inclusive vision where women play a critical role.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has consistently emphasized the importance of women’s safety and empowerment as central to the vision of a “New Uttar Pradesh.” His government has rolled out several schemes and policies aimed at ensuring that women are not only protected but also provided opportunities to grow and excel.

From the establishment of women helplines to awareness campaigns about women’s rights, the focus has been on creating a holistic environment where women can thrive. The mantra of “Suraksha, Samman, Swavalamban” (Security, Respect, Self-Reliance) is being implemented in a systematic manner across all levels of governance in UP.

As crime against women is being addressed with seriousness and sensitivity, social harmony in communities is improving. Families feel reassured about the safety of their daughters, while women feel freer to pursue education, employment, and entrepreneurship.
