Karachi province of Pakistan witnessed massive gun firing on its Independence Day celebrations that led to the death of three people and numerous others injured. The brutal incident is a testament to evolving culture of reckless gun firing in Pakistan and even Independence Day celebrations is not an exception to commit anti-social acts!

Karachi witnessed massive gun firing on the eve of Independence Day celebrations

Pakistan celebrates its Independence Day on August 14. However, the celebrations turned into a nightmare for many in the Karachi Province. A gun firing unraveled during the Independence Day celebrations led to the death of three people and 60 others were injured.

According to Pakistani media, a senior citizen, an eight year-old girl and another man named Stephen were killed due to gun firing in Karachi during the Independence Day celebrations. As per the reports, 60 more people have suffered severe ailments due to gunshots unleashed across the city at various locations during celebratory events. Authorities have condemned the gun firing as reckless and dangerous. They have also urged the citizens to mark the Independence Day celebrations in a safe manner.

Karachi police have initiated an investigation against the atrocities and has assured that strict actions will be taken against those involved in aerial firing. Local authorities decode the causes behind increasing gun firing culture across Pakistan. They attribute it to mutual disagreements over trivial arguments, personal animosities, clashes between communities etc. Miscreants also indulge in gun firing if people resist against robbery and other anti-social activities.

Growing gun firing menace in Pakistan

As per the reports by Ary News, atleast 42 people including five women have lost their lives in gun firing across Karachi in January and more than 233 individuals sustained multiple injuries in the same incident. In another occasion five people were killed by gun firing as they tried to thwart robbery. As per the reports released by the Chipa Foundation, robbery resistance has led to three fatalities and more than 15 injuries across the Karachi city.

The numbers reveal the fact that how the culture of gun firing is rapidly mounting in Pakistan. Such incidents being reported especially on the eve of Independence Day celebrations unleash harsh truths regarding the state of Pakistani society and the law and order situation in the country.
