Raipur: In a noteworthy development, as many as 35 families reverted to Sanatan Dharma on the occasion of ‘Virat Hindu Sammelan [conference]’ held at Sakti district of Chhattisgarh on August 4.

The conference along with the ‘Shiv Shakti Rudra Mahaabhishek’ was organised at Joba Anand Sheela Ashram on last Monday of Shravan month where the returnees were welcomed into the religion of their ancestors amidst chants of Vedic mantras.

The program was attended by a number of revered Sants, Sanyasis along with locals who expressed their delight over the return of people to Sanatan Dharma.

The returnees were felicitated by Prabal Pratap Judev, head of the Akhil Bharatiya Ghar Wapsi Abhiyan who washed the feet of the returnees and welcomed them into Sanatan fold, marking an emotional moment for those reuniting with their cultural roots.

Judev who has been spearheading the Ghar Wapsi campaign in regions marred by illegal conversion said that ‘conversion activities are on rise and need to be contained and stopped.’

He also made an appeal to volunteers and others to facilitate Ghar Wapsi for those who are willing to reunite with the Sanatan fold, stressing that he himself will continue to work for the cause.

Significantly a number of Ghar Wapsi ceremonies have been held in the state of Chhattisgarh lately where incidents linked with conversion activities are keep popping up on regular intervals, often sparking protest from locals and Hindu activists . The state has been long affected by menace of illegal conversion.
