On July 29, during the debate on ‘Operation Sindoor’ on the floor of the Parliament, Union Home Minister Amit Shah strongly condemned Congress leader P. Chidambaram’s remarks regarding the place of origin of the Pahalgam terror perpetrators. Shah presented evidence from the NIA sources & the Forensic Science Laboratory(FSL) reports and firmly reiterated that the terrorists originated from Pakistan. Home Minister, thus slammed P. Chidambaram’s apprehension on Pahalgam terrorists can be ‘homegrown’.

“We have proof. Two had Pakistani voter IDs and even the chocolates they carried were made in Pakistan”, Amit Shah declared in the Parliament. He also questioned the intent behind the doubts raised by P. Chidambaram regarding Pakistan’s involvement in the terror attack. “Yesterday, former Home Minister Chidambaram ji raised the question asking what the proof that terrorists came from Pakistan? I want to ask him what he will get by saving Pakistan. When he says this, it means they are giving a clean chit to Pakistan”, said Amit Shah.

Amit Shah Lays Down Proof to Assert the Pakistani Roots of Terrorists

In an interview given to a private media, P. Chidambaram had questioned the origin of terrorists. “Have they identified the terrorists? Where they came from? They could be homegrown terrorists. Why do you assume that they came from Pakistan? There is no evidence of that”. These statements of Chidambaram had sparked widespread controversy.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed Chidambaram and laid down proof for the Pakistan roots of the terrorists. Shah said, the government has concrete evidence including Pakistani voter ID numbers, rifles, cartridges made in Pakistan and even Pakistani-made chocolates. “When the terrorists’ dead bodies reached Srinagar, they were identified as the three people who carried out the terror attack in Pahalgam. The FSL report regarding the cartridges from the terror attack was already ready. Yesterday, the rifles of the three terrorists were seized and matched with the previous FSL reports. Further tests were carried out in Chandigarh yesterday, after that it was confirmed that these three terrorists were those who carried out the terror attack”, Amit Shah told the house. “The former Home Minister of the country is giving clean chit to Pakistan in front of the entire world”, Amit Shah added while refuting Chidambaram’s remarks.

Meanwhile, Chidambaram’s statement has sparked widespread criticism. BJP leader Amit Malviya criticized Chidambaram’s remarks and said, “Once again the congress rushes to give a clean chit to Pakistan-this time after the Pahalgam terror attack. Why is that every time our forces confront Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, congress leaders sound more like Islamabad’s defence lawyers than India’s opposition”.
