Keralam: Bharatiya Mahila Morcha protests against Youth Congress black flag protest targeting Amit Shah

Bharatiya Mahila Morcha and Yuva Morcha workers staged protests in Kerala on September 30 over the security lapse during Amit Shah’s convoy and a series of incidents involving BJP workers and organisations.

Bharatiya Mahila Morcha workers staged a protest march to the Secretariat in Tiruvananthapuram on September 30 against the Youth Congress’s black flag demonstration targeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Kollam on September 26. Police used a water cannon to disperse the protesters, leaving one Mahila Morcha worker injured.

Mahila Morcha workers protested against the government’s failure to take action in connection with the security lapse. Another reason for the protest was the lapse by the state government in registering the case against former CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Veena Vijayan and P.A. Mohammed Riyas in the wake of the ED’s report to the State Police Chief concerning the CMRL-Exalogic case.

The cadres carried black flags. They tried to climb over the barricade placed by the police. The police then used a water cannon against them, causing injury to a worker. She was hospitalised. Meanwhile, as a mark of protest, the protesters burnt effigies of Chief Minister V.D. Satheeshan and Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan.

Another report from Tiruvananthapuram suggests that Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha workers, on September 30, staged a black flag protest before Chief Minister V.D. Satheeshan.

One more Yuva Morcha protest was held, on September 30, before K.M. Shaji, the Minister for Local Self Government Department and leader of the Indian Union Muslim League.

According to reports from Tiruvananthapuram, Shaji came down from his vehicle when the protesters blocked it. He then boarded an autorickshaw. Yuva Morcha workers blocked that auto as well. He then came down from it and walked.

Meanwhile, the state office of the BMS-affiliated NGO (Non-Gazetted Officers) Sangh was attacked, on September 30, in Tiruvananthapuram. The leaders of the NGO Sangh stated that their office was attacked by Congress men. NGO Sangh workers carried out a protest march in the city.

The Congress attack did not end there. Congress workers attacked the vehicle of P.K. Krishnadas, BJP national executive member, on September 30, in Neyyattinkara, Tiruvananthapuram district. Immediately, Yuva Morcha workers blocked the highway in the town.

Speaking to the media, BJP state general secretary Adv. S. Suresh said that BJP would protest against the attack on P.K. Krishnadas’s vehicle. Protest marches will be organised in every mandal on October 1. He warned the Congress that BJP is capable of giving a befitting reply if they continue to carry out attacks against BJP.

Congress is resorting to the most undemocratic methods after it took over power. That is why it unleashed black flag demonstrations against Amit Shah. Congress leaders appear to be in a hurry to prove that they are not different from the CPM.
