Senior Pracharak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Prant Sangathan Mantri of Seva Bharati, Odisha (Purv), Shri Kailash Chandra Jena, passed away on July 20, at around 2:30 PM. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar following a prolonged illness. He was 65.

His passing has left a significant void in Odisha’s socio-ideological landscape. Many eminent personalities, including Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, several state ministers, and members of Parliament, have expressed profound grief over his demise.

Born in 1960 in Mulisinua village under Dahisada Panchayat, located in the Soro block of Balasore district, Shri Kailash Jena was the son of Ghanashyam Jena and Pakamani Jena. Inspired by nationalist ideals, he dedicated his life to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and officially assumed the role of a Pracharak in 1987. His initial posting was in Paradeep, followed by service as a Jila Pracharak in the Deogarh, Angul, and Balangir districts.

A tireless organiser and dedicated servant of the motherland, Shri Jena held key responsibilities, including Prant Bastu Bhandar Pramukh and later as Seva Pramukh of Odisha East Prant. His deep involvement with Seva Bharati played a crucial role in coordinating grassroots social welfare initiatives across the state. His association with the Sangh and its affiliates spanned over 38 years of unbroken service and sacrifice.

Following his demise, his mortal remains were brought to the Utkal Bipanna Sahayata Samiti (BPL) premises, where hundreds of RSS swayamsevaks and karyakartas from the broader ideological family gathered to pay their final respects. Later, his body was taken to his native village in Soro, where his last rites were performed with full honour.

In a heartfelt tribute, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, “I am deeply saddened and shocked to hear about the demise of Kailash Bhai. He was a simple, dignified, and soft-spoken person. I have known him for a long time. He was a fine organiser, and his efforts to propagate nationalist ideals will always be remembered. I pray for eternal peace to the departed soul and offer my condolences to the grieving family.”
