Love Jihad in Madhya Pradesh: Congress leader Anwar Qadri accused of funding Rs 20 lakh bounty on Hindu girls

Congress councillor Anwar Qadri from Madhya Pradesh stands accused of funding a Love Jihad racket, offering up to Rs 20 lakh to trap Hindu girls based on caste. The Indore Police have unearthed a chilling case of organised Love Jihad allegedly funded and orchestrated by Congress councillor Anwar Qadri, who is now on the run. Two men — Sahil Sheikh and Altaf have been arrested and have confessed on camera that they were paid lakhs of rupees to trap Hindu girls, sexually exploit them, and eventually convert and marry them under false identities.

Hindu girls “Priced” by caste: Shocking ‘Rate Card’ emerges

According to the confession of the accused, Anwar Qadri not only financed this operation but also set a disturbing “rate card” based on the caste of the Hindu girls:

  • Rs 20 lakh for Brahmin girls
  • Rs 15 lakh for OBC girls
  • Rs 10 lakh for SC/ST girls

Additionally, Rs1 lakh was promised for successfully initiating a romantic relationship, and ₹2 lakh for marrying the girl after conversion. Posters with these rates reportedly circulated in private networks to incentivize targeting Hindu women. This is the first time in India that a Love Jihad conspiracy has been exposed with on-camera confessions, financial trails, and a direct political link to a sitting Congress leader.

Sahil Sheikh, a car showroom helper, and Altaf, a house painter, admitted to creating fake Hindu profiles online.

  • Sahil became “Arjun”
  • Altaf posed as “Raj”

Using these fake identities, they befriended and lured Hindu women via social media, pretending to be devout Hindus. Once trust was established, the girls were sexually exploited and emotionally manipulated.

When the victims discovered the real identities of Sahil and Altaf, they reported them to the police. Both were arrested on June 13, and during interrogation, they confessed to being part of a wider network allegedly funded by Congress councillor Anwar Qadri.

The Man Behind the Crime: Who is Anwar Qadri?

Currently a Congress municipal councillor in Indore, Anwar Qadri is a repeat offender with 18 criminal cases registered against him, including:

  • Robbery (since 1997)
  • Attempt to murder
  • Inciting communal violence
  • Assault on religious places
  • Provoking pro-Pakistan slogans during Operation Sindoor

Nicknamed “Dacoit Councillor” in local police files, Qadri has long been seen as a criminal-politician operating in the shadows of mainstream politics. His name is now directly linked to what appears to be an Islamist conversion and entrapment racket using sexual, emotional, and religious coercion.

After Sahil and Altaf’s confession, the Banganga Police Station filed an FIR against Qadri on June 16, and the National Security Act (NSA) was invoked against him. Despite this, Qadri is currently absconding, with a reward declared for information leading to his arrest.

He is reportedly seeking legal protection to prevent bulldozer action against his residence — a step frequently used by the Madhya Pradesh government to demolish properties built with proceeds of crime or used for illegal activities. Police sources suspect Qadri funded not just Sahil and Altaf, but many others across Indore and possibly beyond, as part of a well-structured Love Jihad network.

Police officials believe this case is just the tip of the iceberg. Digital forensics, financial records, and social media activity logs are being analysed to track down other members of the conversion and entrapment racket.

A senior officer said,” This isn’t just a moral or social issue — this is organised crime with communal and ideological motivations. We’re tracking others who may have received similar payments and instructions from Qadri and his handlers.” There is growing speculation that external funding—possibly from foreign Islamist organisations—may also be involved, considering the scale, coordination, and financial muscle behind the operation.
