In a historic show of devotion and cultural assertion, the Murugan Devotees Conference (Murugan Bhaktargal Maanadu) concluded successfully at Tripurakundram, drawing an overwhelming participation of over 4 lakh devotees. Pilgrims from all over Tamil Nadu gathered to express their reverence for Bhagwan Murugan.

An estimated 4 lakh people filled the venue, while another 1 lakh devotees were present outside, unable to enter due to heavy traffic. The event was also live-streamed to over 1 crore viewers online, amplifying its spiritual and socio-political message across the region.

On this occasion, Hindu Munnani State President Kadeswara Subramaniam, who passionately spoke about Murugan’s central place in Tamil spiritual life and highlighted growing attempts to Islamise the Tripurakundram hill, a sacred site for Murugan devotees.

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, chief guest of the event, addressing the audience in Tamil, described Madurai as sacred ground and hailed Murugan as an avatar who continues to inspire. He criticised decades of selective attacks on Hindu faith under the guise of free speech and questioned the silence of political elites when it comes to confronting religious radicalism of other religions. Tamil Nadu BJP State President Nainar Nagenthiran said that a unified fight is needed to counter the forces undermining the rights of Hindus. He thanked the people for the successful event. Despite conspiracies to disrupt the conference through various obstacles, it was conducted successfully, overcoming all hurdles.

Tamil Nadu BJP leader Annamalai addressed the gathering with a stirring speech on the civilisational threats Hindus face today. Drawing a parallel with Israel’s military defence, he underscored the importance of national security and cultural survival, referencing the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack as a warning sign. He asserted that the massive turnout was a clear indication of people rising up against pseudo-secularism, which has long suppressed the rights and identity of Hindus.

The crowd remained disciplined, engaged, and emotionally moved. A brief drizzle during the programme was symbolically described by speakers as the tears of those who laid down their lives for Dharma.

The speakers include Vannirajan, Dakshina Kshetra Sanghachalak of the RSS; Advocate Kanimozhi; revered saints, seers, and religious leaders from around the world. Senior leaders of BJP Tamil Nadu and AIDMK were present on the occassion.

One of the attendees who came from Chennai noted that the Maanadu sent a clear message that the Hindu voice is awakening and will no longer be sidelined. After independence, this kind of cultural awareness is the need of the hour, and now, with the blessings of Murugan, we will regain a dharmic society.

The event concluded with the recitation of the Skanda Ashtaka Kavasam and a moving Harati to Bhagwan Murugan, uniting lakhs in a spiritual moment of resolve.

Political observers note that this event—one of the largest Hindu gatherings in recent Tamil Nadu history—is likely to have a significant impact on the state’s socio-political dynamics.
