Global Rankings see MIT at the top as Asian universities make gains
MIT retains its leading position globally, followed by Imperial College London in second and Stanford University in third. The United States remains the most represented country with 192 institutions, many of which have improved their rankings this year.
Asia continues to show strong progress, with Peking University steady at 14th, Tsinghua University rising to 17th, and Fudan University climbing nine places to 30th. Hong Kong SAR and Ireland were highlighted among the most improved education systems.
Europe also recorded positive developments, especially Italy, where Politecnico di Milano entered the global top 100 for the first time, ranking 98th.
Ranking Methodology introduces new focus on student diversity
This year’s rankings feature over 1,500 universities across more than 100 locations. A key addition is the International Student Diversity (ISD) metric, included as an unweighted indicator. This new measure reflects both the percentage and variety of international students, highlighting efforts to foster globally inclusive campuses.
