What began as a routine road mishap on June 18, turned into a serious communal incident in Daulatpur village, under the Naugawan Sadat police station area of Amroha district. A minor collision between a car and a bike led to violent retaliation, allegedly by members of the Dalit community, who ransacked the home of a Muslim family, torched a cotton factory and a cattle shed, and caused injuries on both sides.
According to local resident Ible Hasan, the clash was triggered when his son-in-law, Javed, was returning home with his wife. At Prithvipur crossing, their car accidentally collided with the bike of a Dalit youth. The argument that followed could have ended then and there, but it didn’t.
What followed next was more than just vandalism. In a shocking escalation, the mob set fire to a nearby cotton factory owned by Hasan and to a cattle shed on the property.

Mustakeem, Ible Hasan’s son, expressed disbelief at the scale of destruction. “The accident involved someone else in our extended family.”
“Hours later, a group of men stormed my residence in Daulatpur, vandalised property and smashed car windows. They even looted valuables. When we tried to stop them, they threatened to kill us,” Hasan alleged.
Locals said the mob set fire to a nearby cotton processing factory and a cattle shed. A bovine was charred to death, while the factory was completely destroyed, they added.
The side of the Dalit, mostly Jatav’s family, on what led to the tensions is yet to be reported, as the family has not come out in the media.
The sudden violence sent waves of panic across the village. Alerted to the situation, Amroha Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand, Additional SP, and forces from multiple nearby police stations rushed to the location.
The Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) was also deployed to ensure that the situation did not spiral further.
By the time the police arrived, most of the alleged attackers had fled. However, their rampage had already left a trail of destruction and fear among the residents.
Speaking to the media, SP Amit Kumar Anand confirmed that an FIR has been registered based on the complaint by the victim’s family. “Five people have sustained injuries in the incident. We have formed special teams to track and arrest the accused. A thorough investigation is underway, and strict action will be taken based on the facts that emerge.”
While the police have managed to bring the situation under control, the incident has once again exposed the fragile communal fabric in rural Uttar Pradesh. What was essentially a minor traffic dispute quickly devolved into large-scale targeted violence.
The fact that an entire family was attacked, livestock lost, and a business burnt down, all over a collision, raises urgent questions about inter-community relations and the growing readiness of mobs to take the law into their own hands.
For now, Daulatpur remains heavily guarded by police and PAC units, even as residents try to recover from the trauma and destruction.
