Guwahati: Assam government has issued shoot at sight order in Dhubri town on June 13. The order has been issued seeing the increasing communal tension in Dhubri town after the Eid ul Zuha celebration. A slaughtered cow head was found in front of a Hanuman temple in Dhubri town on June 8. Local Hindu community staged a huge protest after the incident. But the same incident was repeated on June 9. Huge numbers of Hindu population came out into the street to protest the incident. Administration apprehended several suspected Islamist after the protest. Several illegal roadside Muslim hotels were also demolished by the administration who were illegally selling beef. But after the actions taken by administration miscreants started pelting stones in Hindu areas and places of worship. Night curfew was imposed in the town to prevent any unwanted incidents.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on June 13 visited Dhubri town and held meetings with administration and police. TalKing to reporters CM Sarma said shoot and sight order has been issued by the government against all anti social elements active in the district. He further said that miscreants have put posters in public areas supporting inclusion of Dhubri in greater Bangladesh or ‘Naveen Bangla’. A Bangladeshi supported Jihadi module has been active in the district and trying to create panic in the bordering district. So shoot and sight order has been issued and police will shoot if any miscreants try to create law and order situations. He also said that Rapid Action Force (RAF), CRPF and additional police force will be immediately deployed in the town. SP has been directed to arrest all criminals in the district and top police officials will camp in the district until the law-and-order situation improves.

The CM also visited the Hanuman temple where the miscreant threw the cow head. CM Sarma said that next year on ‘Bakri Eid’ I will be stationed in Dhubri and personally monitor the law-and-order situation. A section of communal force is trying to destabilise the district which will not be allowed by our government, he added. “We can’t let Dhubri go out of hand. Once it happens it will be a trend in the state”, CM Sarma said. He also urged all shop owners to put CCTV in their shops to identify the miscreants. It should be mentioned that Dhubri district bordering to Bangladesh became absolute Muslim majority district in the past 4-5 decades. Several modules of Bangladesh based Islamic terrorist group Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and Al Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) were busted in the district in the past few years. Security sources said that few modules of Jihadi elements are still active in the district and continuing their anti-India and anti-social activities.
