Malaysia ignored Pakistan’s request to cancel the outreach events of the Operation Sindoor delegation led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha. Despite Islamabad citing the “Kashmir issue at the UN” and attempting to use religious grounds, Malaysia approved all 10 programmes planned by the 9-member Indian delegation, sources said.
The Pakistan embassy reportedly urged Malaysian officials, saying, “We are an Islamic country, you are an Islamic country… don’t listen to the Indian delegation, cancel all their programmes in Malaysia.”
Malaysia, the final stop on the Indian delegation’s multi-nation tour after Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Indonesia, refused the request and allowed all scheduled events to proceed.
The Indian delegation met with Malaysia’s People’s Justice Party (PKR), led by former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad’s minister YB Sim Tze Tzin, to underscore India’s firm and united stance during Operation Sindoor.
Commenting on the delegation’s achievements, Sanjay Jha said: “Firstly, the all-party delegation sent by the government delivered a strong message that the entire country stands united on this issue against terrorism. Secondly, countries across the world unequivocally condemned the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and offered condolences to all 26 victims who died in the massacre.”
Jha added that India’s precision strikes were solely aimed at terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied J&K (PoJK), and noted that normalcy was returning with flight operations resuming in J&K.
“We urged the FATF (Financial Action Task Force) to take action against Pakistan. The delegation delivered a strong and unified message against terrorism,” the JD(U) MP stated.
Reinforcing India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism, the all-party delegation also asserted that “water and blood cannot flow together” in reference to the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).
New Delhi suspended the Indus Waters Treaty after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, declaring it would remain on hold until Pakistan ends its support for terrorism.
On May 7, India launched precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. In response, Pakistan targeted Indian military bases between May 8 and 10. The escalation ended on May 10 following talks, during which both sides agreed to halt military action. The nine-member Indian delegation was led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha and included BJP leaders Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Pradan Baruah, and Hemang Joshi; TMC’s Abhishek Baruah; CPI(M)’s John Brittas; former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, and former diplomat Mohan Kumar.
