Espionage Web: Jyoti Malhotra & Gaurav Gogoi’s alleged links with Pakistan spark national security concern

A burgeoning "espionage web" appears to be unraveling in India, raising significant national security concerns as alarming allegations surface regarding alleged links between high-profile individuals and Pakistan

In a rapidly evolving security landscape, India’s internal vigilance remains crucial. Recent developments have brought to light two highly concerning cases involving YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra and Congress Member of Parliament and Deputy Leader of Parliament Gaurav Gogoi, both of whom are alleged to have engaged in questionable interactions with Pakistani diplomatic and intelligence networks. While the individuals come from distinctly different professional backgrounds, the patterns of behaviour, contact points, and security-related anomalies in their cases show striking and unsettling similarities.

Case 1: Jyoti Malhotra – From a you tuber to one who compromised national security

Jyoti Malhotra, a prominent you tuber, first came into the spotlight for her repeated associations with a Pakistani diplomat, Eshan Ur Rahim, who also went by the alias “Danish.” Her engagements were not limited to casual encounters:
•A dinner at the Pakistan High Commission was publicly shared through a video, sparking early concerns.
•Between 2023 and 2025, she visited Pakistan multiple times, reportedly meeting not only Rahim’s associates but also members of Pakistan’s security establishment and intelligence community.
•On her return to India, she allegedly made attempts to relay sensitive information of strategic importance to Pakistan through informal networks and media narratives.
•Investigative leads suggest that Malhotra received financial compensation from undisclosed sources, hinting at potential foreign influence operations.

Case 2: Gaurav Gogoi – A Sitting MP Under the Scanner

Even more alarming is the case involving Gaurav Gogoi, an elected representative from Assam. Gogoi’s links to Pakistan allegedly emerged through personal relationships:
•His wife/partner, reportedly employed with LEAD Pakistan, acted as a channel for his initial contact with Pakistani national Ali Taukir Sheikh.
•Gogoi was seen in images attending meetings at the Pakistan High Commission, raising eyebrows in strategic circles.
•From 2013 to 2018, he made multiple visits to Pakistan, including crossing the Wagah border, where he reportedly met not only Taukir but also Pakistani intelligence operatives and army officers.
•Following his return, questions raised in Parliament by Gogoi were found to align suspiciously with confidential matters relating to India’s security posture.
•Additionally, records indicate that his wife received salary-like payments from Pakistan, even while residing in India—raising serious concerns of possible financial entanglement with foreign entities.

Converging Patterns: Coincidence or Collusion?

While the two individuals differ in profession and public standing, the overlapping actions in their conduct cannot be ignored:

Point of Comparison Jyoti Malhotra Gaurav Gogoi

  • Frequent Visits to Pakistan 2023–2025 2013–2018
  • Public Interaction with Pakistan High Commission Video of dinner uploaded Photos of meetings uploaded
  • Contact with Pakistani Intelligence & Security Personnel Confirmed Confirmed
  • Attempts to Share Sensitive Information Through media & informal channels Through parliamentary questions
  • Receipt of Foreign Funds Personally Through spouse
  • Facilitator of Contact Eshan Ur Rahim (“Danish”) Ali Taukir Sheikh (via spouse)

These parallels indicate more than a passing coincidence—they point to a concerning pattern of foreign influence, compromised national interests, and strategic vulnerability.

Both cases demand urgent and transparent investigation by national security agencies. Whether it is a case of deliberate espionage, political manipulation, or journalistic overreach under foreign influence, the stakes are too high for inaction. In an era where hybrid warfare and psychological operations are common tools of foreign policy, India must fortify its internal defenses not just at the borders but also within its institutions, media, and political fabric.

If democracy and sovereignty are to be preserved, accountability must not be selective. Those entrusted with the privilege of voice and representation must be held to the highest standard of integrity.
