New Delhi: While extending his wishes on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 12 said that Bhagwan Buddha’s life will always inspire the world community towards “compassion and peace.”
Taking to X, the PM in a post said “Best wishes to all countrymen on Buddha Purnima. Bhagwan Buddh messages, based on the principles of truth, equality and harmony, have been a guide for humanity. His life dedicated to sacrifice and penance will always inspire the world community towards compassion and peace.”

Significantly, PM’s post asserting on peace and compassion has arrived amidst the ongoing heightened tension between Bharat and Pakistan following the cowardly terror act carried by Pakistan sponsored terrorists in Pahalgam of J&K on April 22.
The post highlights his resolve to align more with his earlier statement that “today’s era is not an era of war” and the future lies in “Buddha not Yuddh (war) even in a tensed situation along the border.
PM walks the talk on peace
The restraint shown by the forces under the leadership of PM Modi despite continuous provocations by the enemy nation in the recent ongoing conflict is a glaring example that how PM Modi walks his talk even while in the worst of the circumstances.
Further the precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) after the ghastly terror attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam by Pak sponsored terrorists only reflects Bharat’s resolve towards maintaining maximum restrains while severely punishing the perpetrators of the attack simultaneously.
Even the strikes on the airbases of Pakistan were carried out only after the enemy nation launched a barrage of drones and missile attacks on military installations and civilian areas of Bharat, prompting an appropriate response by the Bhartiya armed forces.
The timing and accuracy of the strikes amidst a challenging scenario given Pakistan’s deliberate attempt to continue operating with their commercial and private flight operations largely to use civilians as a human shield was another example of how the forces under PM Modi succeeded in dealing a major blow to the targeted locations while exercising maximum caution.
It is pertinent to mention here that all these strikes were retaliatory in nature and were carried out only after Pakistan launches strikes on military bases and civilian areas along continuous violation of ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC).
The Bharatiya government further reacted positively while reaching to an understanding over ‘stoppage of firing’ after the Director General of Military Operation (DGMO), Pakistan proposed the same before his Bhartiya counterpart, denoting Bharat’s resolve for peace while maintaining the right to retaliate with all might in case of a provocation.
“Act of Terror” equals to “Act of War”
The government however made sure that Bharat’s willingness for peace is not taken advantage of by the hostile neighbour who is best known for its anti-Bharat stand and promotion of cross border terrorism.
In a firm message to any such misadventure by any of the non-state actors supported by the establishment in future, Bharat made it clear that any terror attack on its sovereign territory in future will be considered as an ‘Act of War’.
The stand taken by PM Modi clearly demonstrate the position of “New Bharat” in dealing with any such misadventure, highlighting that while the ‘land of Bhagwan Buddh’ firmly relates itself to the teachings of peace and non-violence propagated by Bhagwan Buddh, it rightly reserve its right to retaliate appropriately to anyone who dares to cause harm to its citizens or its territorial integrity.
