Thiruvananthapuram: Senior Congress leader and former Defence Minister AK Antony lauded the government and the Indian Army for its strong and swift response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Terming the action as “just the beginning,” Antony asserted that operations against terrorism will continue with full national support.

“This is the time for the entire nation to stand united against terrorism. The beginning is good, and it is expected that such decisive actions will continue. We support the central government in any initiative to safeguard the state. The conscience of the world is with India,” Antony said.

He commended the Indian Army for doing justice to the martyrs of the Pahalgam attack and their families and expressed his deep respect for the armed forces. “I offer a big salute to the brave Indian Army and its jawans. The entire country is behind every action taken against terrorism,” he added.

Despite the heavy blow dealt to the region’s tourism sector, Antony remarked that the people of Kashmir continue to stand firmly with the Indian Army in its fight against terrorism. “This is just the beginning,” he reiterated.

Expressing confidence in the armed forces, Antony said he believes the Indian Army will successfully dismantle terrorist camps operating across the border, behind Pakistani military lines. “It is for the Army to decide the timing and manner of its operations, but the moral support of the global community is firmly with India,” he noted.

“The Indian Army is capable of completing any mission assigned by the nation, regardless of the sacrifices involved. At a time like this, there is no room for controversy-only unity,” Antony concluded.
