The Central University of Kerala (CUK) condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. During a condolence meeting held in front of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhawan, Vice Chancellor Prof. Siddu P. Algur strongly denounced the attack, stating, “The terrorist attack in Pahalgam has shocked the conscience of the nation.” He expressed solidarity with the victims and their families, affirming that “the country will move forward strongly, overcoming terrorism.”

In his condolence message, Registrar Dr. M. Muralidharan Nambiar emphasised the broader implications of the attack. “This brutal attack is not only an assault on human lives but also a direct attack on the unity and integrity of our nation. It is a deliberate attempt to undermine the progress and development that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed in recent years”, he stated.

“We shall remain steadfast in our commitment to peace and harmony, values deeply rooted in the soil of our country and nurtured over centuries. We must not allow such cowardly attacks to disturb the peace and harmony prevailing in society,” Dr. Nambiar added.

CUK stands in solidarity with the victims and their families during this moment of profound pain and grief. The university firmly believes that justice will prevail and those responsible for this barbaric act will be held accountable. As an educational institution, CUK underscored its moral responsibility to foster peace, love, and tolerance through its students. “It is high time to uphold our age-old principle of Ahimsa as the essence of our teaching, learning, and research processes,” Dr. Nambiar urged.

The university called upon its student community, teachers, and non-teaching staff to stand united with the Government of India in this hour of sorrow and reaffirm their resolve in the fight against terrorism. The meeting was attended by the Controller of Examinations Dr. R. Jayaprakash, Deans, Heads of Departments, Students, Teachers, Staff, and other members of the university community.
