The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has announced its list of probable candidates for the upcoming Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) elections, scheduled for April 25. All nine probable candidates have filed their nomination papers today, with final selection for the four key Central Panel posts—President, Vice-President, General Secretary, and Joint Secretary—to be decided following the scrutiny of nominations.
The list of probable candidates includes Thite Shambhavi Pramod, Anuj Damara, Kunal Rai, Vikas Patel, Rajeshwar Kant Dubey, Shikha Swaraj, Nittu Goutham, Arun Srivastava, and Akash Kumar Ravani.
Alongside the Central Panel elections, 42 councillor posts representing 16 schools and a special combined centre within the university will also go to polls. Today marked the last day for filing nominations, while tomorrow is the final deadline for withdrawal.
ABVP activists have already kicked off an intensive and organised pre-campaign strategy. Groups of volunteers are engaging in hostel-to-hostel and class-to-class outreach, sharing the organisation’s positive, movement-based work over the past six years. The campaign focuses on initiating direct dialogue with students and highlighting ABVP’s consistent engagement with student issues.
“ABVP is fully prepared for the JNUSU elections,” stated Arjun Anand, ABVP’s Central Election Coordinator for the JNU elections. “We are committed to promoting responsible leadership by selecting dedicated, aware, and active student leaders. Based on suggestions and ongoing conversations with students, ABVP will soon release a dedicated manifesto.”
He further emphasised that ABVP remains the only consistently active student organisation that has raised students’ concerns and championed their rights on campus. “We will continue to do so with the same zeal and determination,” Anand added.
