Patna: Union Minister Giriraj Singh on April 7 targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Bihar for the ‘Palayan Roko Naukri Do’ rally in Begusarai, claiming his presence would make no political difference.

Taking a jibe at the Congress’ choice of attire, Singh said Gandhi avoids wearing saffron as he hates the ‘bhagwa’ colour, and maintained that Bihar remains under the leadership of chief minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“There will be no effect of him visiting Bihar. He has come and will spread confusion. In Bihar, the government is made up of Nitish Kumar and PM Modi… He (Rahul Gandhi) hates the ‘bhagwa’ colour and hence he wears a white t-shirt,” Singh told media persons.

He further said, “First, he should save his own political ground from slipping. His arrival from Kerala to Bihar will have no impact. Bihar is moving forward under the leadership of Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Modi. Just look at the transformation–compare Bihar before 2005 and after 2005. Infrastructure has been developed, roads and bridges have been built across the Ganga, and employment opportunities have increased.”

Earlier today, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi joined the Congress’ student wing’s (NSUI) ‘Palayan Roko Naukri Do’ rally, which NSUI National is leading in charge Kanhaiya Kumar. The Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition is slated to address a public meeting in Patna.

In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said that he would visit Begusarai in Bihar, where he would hold the Yatra.

“Young friends of Bihar, I will be coming to Begusarai on April 7th to join you in the ‘Roko Palayan, Do Naukri’ campaign, walking shoulder to shoulder with you. The goal is to show the world the spirit of Bihar’s youth, their struggles, and their hardships,” Rahul said.

The Lok Sabha LoP also asked the youth to wear white t-shirts to put pressure on the Bihar government.

Previously, the Congress leader visited Bihar on January 18 and February 5.

The Bihar Legislative Assembly election for all 243 constituencies is scheduled to be held in October or November this year. The last assembly elections were held in October-November 2020. (With inputs from ANI)
