Pakistan: Hindu Dalit family of Dr Bhojraj Meghwar attacked in Tando Muhammad Khan area, six grievously injured

In a violent hate crime against minority Hindu community, at least 40 members of Rind community attacked the family of Dr Bhojraj Meghwar in Tando Muhammad Khan of Sindh province. None of the culprits has been arrested so far as six members of Dr Meghwar’s family have been badly injured, with one of them presently in coma.

All mainstream Pakistani newspapers, including Dawn, The News International, The Friday Times, besides TV channels and portals, have blacked out the brutal attack on a Hindu family in Tando Muhammad Khan area of Pakistan that happened. During the past few days, some more attacks on Hindus have also been seen in different parts of Sindh, besides forced conversions. None of these reports are available anywhere in any of the news organisations named above earlier.

It may be mentioned here that like here in parts of India like Rajasthan, the Meghwar community in Pakistan falls in the category of Scheduled Castes. The Meghwar community, along with other groups like Bheel, Kolhi, and Bagri, are considered scheduled caste (or Dalit) in Pakistan, as per a 1957 Presidential Ordinance.

The gory details regarding the attack on the family of Dr Bhojraj Meghwar have been posted online on Facebook by some conscientious citizens like Shakil Chaudhary. In fact, Mr Chaudhary shared a post by someone named Mukesh Meghwar and helped him magnify the message. He has shared the post with the remarks: What is happening in the land of the pure?

Mukesh Meghwar’s Post

In his post, Mukesh Meghwar writes: Stop the Brutal Attack on a Peaceful Hindu Family in Tando Muhammad Khan! Today (read April 3), in a horrifying act of violence, over 40 armed men from the Rind community launched a brutal attack on the home of Dr. Bhojraj Meghwar, a respected Hindu citizen of Tando Muhammad Khan. They mercilessly tortured and attempted to murder his family members, leaving six of them critically injured—including his brother, son, and three nephews. Mr. Mohan Lal is in a coma, fighting for his life at Civil Hospital Hyderabad.

Dr. Bhojraj and his family have lived peacefully in this city for the last 50 years. They have never been involved in any criminal activity; their only “crime” is being a hardworking Hindu family. This was not just an attack on a household—it was a message of hatred and oppression against the entire Hindu community of Tando Muhammad Khan.

Why were they attacked? Because certain elements cannot tolerate the financial growth and success of minorities. This is an attempt to silence and intimidate Hindus, to remind them that they are vulnerable. This brutality is not just a crime—it is a hate-fueled atrocity against innocent lives.

We Demand Justice! We appeal to IG Sindh, SSP Tando Muhammad Khan, MNAs, MPAs, and local government officials—we need immediate action! The post further demands that an FIR for murder must be lodged against all culprits. All attackers must be arrested and punished under the law. Strict measures must be taken to protect minorities from such brutal violence.

In conclusion, the post says: This is a test of justice! If we stay silent today, tomorrow more innocent families will suffer. We urge all citizens, human rights organizations, and media to raise their voices. No family should live in fear because of their faith!

A portal named sindhrenaissance.com has also given more details regarding the attack on Meghwar family. Its report says: In a shocking display of hatred and violence, over 40 armed men from the Rind community stormed the residence of Dr. Bhojraj Meghwar, a respected Hindu citizen of Tando Muhammad Khan. The attackers brutally tortured his family members and attempted to murder them in cold blood, leaving six people critically injured—including his brother, son, and three nephews.

One of the victims, Mr. Mohan Lal, is currently in a coma, battling for his life at Civil Hospital Hyderabad. This violent assault was not just an attack on an innocent family but an act of terror meant to instill fear among the Hindu community in Sindh.

Why Was This Family Targeted?

Dr. Bhojraj and his family have lived in Tando Muhammad Khan for over 50 years, never engaging in any criminal activity. Their only “crime” was being a hardworking and successful Hindu family. This attack was not a random act of violence—it was a premeditated hate crime meant to intimidate and suppress minorities in the region.

The attackers targeted the Meghwar family because certain elements cannot tolerate the financial success and stability of minorities. It was a brutal reminder that Hindus in Sindh remain vulnerable to unchecked violence, discrimination, and persecution.

Will Justice Be Served?

An FIR of the attack has been registered at 1:25 am, and the Meghwar community is desperately hoping that law enforcement will act swiftly to arrest all those responsible. However, given the past record of similar hate crimes against Hindus in Sindh, will justice truly be delivered? This attack highlights the urgent need for stronger legal protections for religious minorities in Pakistan. The world must take notice and hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions.

We stand in solidarity with Dr. Bhojraj and his family. Their suffering must not be ignored. Justice must prevail. The portal has also given details about some other hate crimes against Hindus during the past few days.
