Bilaspur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 30 laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple development projects worth Rs 33,700 crore, spanning sectors such as power, oil and gas, rail, road, education and housing in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district.

The PM during the event emphasised that efforts are underway to ensure that the benefits of development reach every individual.

Addressing an impressive gathering in the Mohbhatta ground, the PM said, ”It is a matter of great fortune for me to be here on the first day of Navratri. Chhattisgarh is the land of Mata Mahamaya, and it is also the maternal home of Mata Kaushalya. The nine days dedicated to Shakti are very special for Chhattisgarh, and I am fortunate to have arrived here on this auspicious occasion.”

“We are committed to fulfilling every promise made to the people of Chhattisgarh. It is a privilege for me to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate projects worth thousands of crores in Bilaspur on the first day of Navratri,” he added.

Highlighting the inauguration and foundation stone for multiple development project, PM said “Just a little while ago, the foundation stone and inauguration of projects worth over Rs 33,700 crore took place. These projects include homes for the poor, schools, roads, railways, electricity, and gas pipelines. All these initiatives are aimed at providing better facilities to the people of Chhattisgarh. I congratulate all of you for these remarkable development efforts.”

The Prime Minister on the occasion also distributed keys to beneficiaries under the PM Awas Yojana. He highlighted that three lakh poor families in the state are entering their new homes, marking a significant moment for them. The PM also expressed his delight upon meeting the beneficiaries of the scheme.

“The dream of building a permanent house for lakhs of families of Chhattisgarh was kept in files by the previous government, and then we had given a guarantee that our government will fulfil this dream… therefore as soon as Vishnu Deo ji’s government was formed, a decision was taken in the first cabinet to build 18 lakh houses. Today, out of that, 3 lakh houses are ready. I am also happy that many of these houses have been built in our tribal areas. Many families of Bastar and Surguja will also get their permanent houses,” said the PM.

“Today, on the auspicious day of Navratri, 3 lakh poor families of Chhattisgarh are entering their new homes. I wish all these families the best for a new life. It is only because of you all that a concrete roof over the heads of these poor families has become possible; I am saying this because you trusted Modi’s guarantee,” he added.

PM Modi on the occasion laid the foundation stone of NTPC’s Sipat Super Thermal Power Project Stage-III (1x800MW) in Bilaspur, worth over Rs 9,790 crore along dedicating three power transmission projects of POWERGRID under the Western Region Expansion Scheme (WRES) worth over Rs 560 crore.

Besides, he laid the foundation stone of the Visakh-Raipur Pipeline (VRPL) project of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), spanning 540 km and worth over Rs 2210 crore. He also announced the upgrading of the Kondagaon-Narayanpur section of NH-130D (47.5 km) to two lanes with a paved shoulder.
