New Delhi: In an important announcement, the Union Ministry of Culture, has informed to set up 20 Kalagrams (cultural villages) across the country, marking extension of the initiative of the ministry which was at display during the Mahakumbh 2025.

According to the ministry, two of such cultural villages will come up at Patna and Bodh Gaya of Bihar. The ministry has already requested the state government to identify suitable lands for the establishment of the cultural villages at visitors’ friendly locations in both the cities.

In a letter to the chief secretary of Bihar, the secretary of the Ministry of Culture has requested the state government to identify and provide 5-10 acres of land in both the cities, informing that the ministry will bear the cost of construction, maintenance and operational activities in collaboration with the state government following the identification of the land.

“In view of the overwhelming response, the ministry has decided to establish 20 Kalagrams across culturally significant locations across the country. These centers will serve as dedicated spaces for artisans, craftsmen, performing artist, fostering cultural exchange and promoting our age old traditions of Kala, Sanskriti and Parampara (art, culture and traditions),” read the letter.

It must be noted that the Ministry of Culture had set up a grand Kalagram at Maha Kumbh 2025 through its North Central Zone Cultural Centre (NCZCC), an autonomous organization of the Ministry located at Prayagraj.
