New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, while reflecting on the question over the chief ministerial face of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, said that both the central as well as the state leadership has declared that the elections will be contested under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar.
Speaking to ANI on Sunday, March 2 Hussain said, “There is no dispute over NDA’s face in Bihar. The central and state leadership has declared that they will contest the (Bihar assembly) elections under the leadership of Nitish Kumar and win over 200 seats.”
Hussain remarks come days after Tejaswi Yadav launched a sharp attack on Bihar CM Nitish Kumar following his cabinet expansion. A tug of war erupted between the leaders of the NDA and the opposition led by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) after CM Nitish Kumar expanded his ministry by inducting seven new ministers into his cabinet last month.
Reacting to the expansion, Tejashwi Yadav launched a sharp attack on Kumar, stating that the people of Bihar don’t want a “Khatara Gaadi” (outdated vehicle) in the state but want a “newer one.”
In a social media post on March 1, Tejashwi Yadav alleged that the Nitish-BJP government has ruined the lives of two generations in 20 years and has become a burden on the people of Bihar. He emphasized the need for change.
“The Nitish government of 20 years has spread terrible pollution in the form of poverty, unemployment, corruption, crime and migration in every street, every hamlet and every village of Bihar in the last 20 years,” said Yadav.
“The Nitish-BJP government has ruined the lives of two generations in 20 years. Now, this government has become a burden on the people of Bihar. Now it is very important to change it,” he added.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Sunday however fired back Yadav’s sharp attack on Bihar CM, saying the people of Bihar won’t go back to the “darkness” of the past, referring to it as the “Lalten Yug.”
He asserted that the Bihar government is a perfect blend of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s ideology and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s support
Singh emphasised that Bihar is witnessing a surge in development projects, and Tejashwi Yadav’s words will not sway the state’s people.
“Bihar government is a government of Nitish Kumar’s ideology and PM Narendra Modi’s support. Development projects are constantly happening in Bihar. The people of Bihar will not go back to the darkness, to the ‘Lalten Yug’, just because of what Tejashwi Yadav says. The future of Bihar is bright,” said Giriraj Singh
Bihar Assembly elections are expected to take place in October-November 2025 where CM Nitish Kumar led NDA will be up against Tejaswi Yadav led opposition.
