Bilaspur: In a startling revelation, a woman in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district has filed a complaint against her husband for allegedly torturing and pressurizing her to covert. The victim woman in her complaint has alleged her husband for repeatedly assaulting her to abandon Hindu worship methods and embrace Christianity.

The matter came to light on Wednesday, February 26 after the woman lodged a written complaint against his husband, accusing him for torture for conversion. She further has alleged her husband for assaulting her with belt.

According to the victim woman, she got married in the year 2016 and his husband was a practicing Hindu then. His husband however later changed his religion by embracing Christianity.

The victim’s husband though initially allowed his wife to continue practicing Hinduism, and everything was alright before he started pressurizing her to convert. He even resorted to assault her repeatedly after which the victim agreed to visit church for prayers to avoid daily strife.

However, the woman soon announced her disliking about the new methods of worship and eventually refused to comply with her husband’s demand to convert. This led to her frequent harassment by the accused.

The victim husband then reportedly removed all the murtis from the house, citing idol worshiping a devil’s act. He later replaced the said murtis with a picture of Jesus Christ. He even started pressurizing his children to recite Christian prayers.

Troubled by his changed behavior, the lady initially informed her in-laws about his husband’s action and later shifted to her parent’s house to avoid routine torture. The victim lady later walked to the police station and lodged a complaint.

A case has been subsequently registered on the basis of the complaint by the victim and the matter is currently being investigated by the authorities.

It must be noted that this is not the only time that such a case has come to the fore and cases of similar nature has been grabbing attentions for quite some time.

In a likewise development reported by the Organiser, a woman from Balrampur district had also lodged a complaint, stating that her husband is continuously pressurising her for conversion under influence of a local pastor in August last year.

In her written complaint, the woman claimed that her husband under the influence of Ranjit, a pastor residing in the village was pressurising her to embrace Christianity.

According to the lady, the accused pastor Ranjit Bada, a resident of Jhingadad Karji was allegedly luring the villagers including her husband for conversion by promising them a life free from sickness and poverty.

The victim had further blamed Ranjit for luring people with health facilities, money and quality education for children. According to the complainant, her own husband was fallen prey to the promises made by Bada and started attending the weekly meetings organised by him.

He also had reportedly started pressurizing her wife to embrace Christianity under the influence of Ranjit. This led to regular strife in the family after which the lady walked to the police station and lodged a complaint against the said pastor. The pastor was later detained by the police.
