BJP minority leader Nazia Elahi Khan and her co-passengers were attacked on their way to Mahakumbh from Delhi, allegedly by a group of Muslim men. The attack, which took place in Etah, Uttar Pradesh, led to a horrific car accident, leaving one of the passengers, Priya Chaturvedi, critically injured and battling for her life.

According to a video statement released by Nazia Elahi Khan on X, the attack was a premeditated assault. She stated that her car was being followed from Etah before the assailants launched their attack. She was traveling with her friend Priya Chaturvedi and a 19-year-old girl, both of whom sustained severe injuries in the crash.

Khan has previously faced threats from radical Islamists due to her outspoken views and support for the BJP.

Nazia Elahi Khan had earlier received death threats from Islamist groups and was even arrested in Bengal on fabricated blasphemy charges. The case stemmed from an interview she gave on August 3, 2024, to the YouTube channel ‘News Gallery,’ where she allegedly spoke against religious extremism. The attack on her car adds to a growing pattern of intimidation tactics used against individuals who challenge radical elements within their communities.

Following the attack, Nazia has called for swift action have been made on social media, urging Uttar Pradesh authorities, including UP Police, Etah Police, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and DGP Uttar Pradesh, to intervene immediately and ensure safety.
