Imphal: In a significant development following the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur, security forces have intensified operations to restore peace and stability in the state. Over the past two days, multiple successful operations were conducted in Churachandpur District, resulting in the arrest of active Kuki militants and the seizure of a large cache of arms and ammunition.

On February 15, security forces conducted area domination and patrolling exercises in the general area south of Old Khaukual village under Sangaikot Police Station, Churachandpur District. During the operation, seven individuals suspected to be cadres of the Kuki National Army (KNA) were apprehended. The arrested persons have been identified as:

1. Seikhogin Haokip @ Gigin (37)

2. Ngamlenmang Mate @ Mangneo (25)

3. Seikhomang Haokip @ Seimang (25)

4. Thanglelmang Haokip @ Mangboi (27)

5. Jamkhosei Haokip @ Seipu (32)

6. Lhunkholal Khongsai @ Lalboi (34)

7. Mangkhangthang Kipgen @ Mamang (35)

A substantial quantity of arms, ammunition, and other items were seized from the arrested individuals, including:

– 02 AK-47 Rifles

– 01 7.62 Assault Rifle

– 03 Single Bore Rifles

– 10 AK-47 magazines

– 654 rounds of 7.62 mm live ammunition

– 19 Single Bore live cartridges

– 06 Cell Phones

– 03 Baofeng Radio Sets

In a separate operation on February 15, Joint Security Forces dismantled volunteer check posts at Kaprang and S. Kwatlian in Churachandpur District along NH-2. These check posts, which had been established at the onset of the conflict, were deemed unnecessary as the security situation in the region has improved significantly. Security forces have taken control of these locations, ensuring the free movement of civilian vehicles and maintaining order on the highway.

The imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur has enabled security forces to take decisive action against militant activities and restore normalcy in the region. Law enforcement agencies have reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of citizens.

The recent operations mark a significant step forward in stabilizing the security situation in Manipur, with authorities continuing to monitor and address potential threats proactively. Further investigations are underway to determine the extent of the arrested individuals’ involvement in militant activities and their connections to other insurgent groups.
