CMO Delhi Handle Renamed on X: BJP demands LG’s intervention over Arvind Kejriwal’s digital misuse

On February 13, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appealed to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to intervene regarding the renaming of the official ‘CMO Delhi’ handle on X to ‘Arvind Kejriwal At Work’. The BJP alleged that AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal had misused the platform for personal purposes.

Delhi BJP president Virendraa Sachdeva called on the Lieutenant Governor to request a report from the government’s IT department regarding the renaming of the ‘CMO Delhi’ handle on X. He also raised concerns about its alleged use to promote the work of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, according to news agency PTI.

In response, AAP urged the BJP to stop making baseless allegations and focus on governing Delhi. “AAP has ensured 24/7 electricity supply for Delhi, and this should not be disrupted,” the party stated. The BJP regained power in Delhi after 26 years, defeating AAP.

Sachdeva accused Arvind Kejriwal of becoming a “digital looter” as soon as his corrupt government collapsed. He condemned Kejriwal for allegedly renaming the official CMO handle, which was created using public funds, for personal use.

Demanding that the LG halt the alleged misuse of the handle by Kejriwal, Sachdeva highlighted that it had around 1 million followers.

He stated, “By orchestrating this digital heist, Arvind Kejriwal not only misused government resources but also compromised people’s private information, and he must be held legally accountable for this.”

Newly-elected BJP MLA Vijender Gupta said the truth about Kejriwal was now coming to light. “Kejriwal tried in vain to conceal his failures by removing old videos of assembly sessions and government programs from the official Delhi government YouTube channel,” Gupta stated in a press release.

Gupta remarked, “The same Kejriwal who once championed transparency is now deleting government digital documents to hide his ‘lies and failures’ from being exposed.” He further stated that after losing the New Delhi contest, Kejriwal, with no work to do, had renamed the CMO page to “Arvind Kejriwal at Work” to create a false impression of his activity.

He stated that AAP must accept the verdict and stop treating government property as personal assets. He also urged the LG to take immediate control of the government’s digital assets and ensure that those responsible for the misuse are held accountable under the law.
